Found one of these SP101 Rugers and an gorgeous little Marlin Texan 30-30 and did a little day hike on trail 16.

I like the size and form of this. Now I want one of those 3" wiley clapp or lipsey 3" version. Didn't think I'd like it but I see why folks dig them they are mild to shoot.

That one's the DAO version? Or is something hiding under the feathers? Either way, nice shooting.

I've had the SP-101 357 in both barrel lengths and soon discovered I like the short one better, and shot it just as well.

Fine work on the grouse BTW.

Love the Crimson Trace laser grips on those guns. Make it super easy to hit with and the grip design is better than most I found at taming the recoil of 357 loads to boot

I had a 2" SP 101 .357 mag for several years, until my brother decided he liked it better than I did. My son has one or two as well. With full-house .357 loads I wouldn't consider it "mile to shoot" but maybe I'm just some kind of sissy.

I have an unfired Wiley Clap 2.25” and had a standard 3”. The WC has an awesome sight pic. For carry I prefer jframes.

I have an j-frame for a small carry but wanted to see what the SP101 was all about for some carry but primarily an outdoor revolver. I need to update that front sight a bit and get an lefty holster ordered.

I have had a basic 3 inch mdl. for 15 years or more. Rock solid. I load 125 gr. Hollow points to 200 gr. Hard cast flat nose. Nice little revolver,

The SP101 is a great outdoor carry gun. It will chamber even Buffalo Bore 180 grain hard cast gas check rounds with room to spare. I sometimes carry it loaded with Remington 158 grain SJHPs when I'm hiking where there are black bears. Provides good protection from more dangerous 2 legged critters, too.

For a woods gun, with "real" .357 ammo, the 4.2" SP101 has a lot going for it. Enough weight, barrel length, and sight distance to make use of the the round....while not being overly large.

I'll second that recommendation. SR made one for my 4" SP101 .32 H&R that I like a great deal.

A Milf Sparks holster conjures images of something other than guns.

I have the 2 1/4" Wiley Clapp SP 101. As far as snub-nose revolvers go it's a tank, but compared to my Redhawk and Vaquero it's a fly-weight and simply a pleasure to carry. When I'm rifle hunting my SP101 is in a Wilderness Safepacker and on my belt and I often forget it's there. The first chamber is usually loaded with snake shot, then the other 4 are stoked with either 357 Mag. Golden Sabres, or a 158gr SWC of my own construction (or any combination there-of). Love this little rig!

Took the sp101 out behind the house and used up some 357mag. It has a little blast and makes one say glory to America when it goes off but really it just doesn't seem all that wild with recoil. It might be the grips that time it.

It's relative the security-six 2 3/4" came along as well.

The more I get to use this little 357 the more I like it. 38spl for small game though, I don't think there's any reason to go 357 for grouse.
