Looking good Teal.

My son and I went to my grandma's 90th birthday party yesterday. We walked a few trails before we got there and he picked up a bird. His first in a while since football has taken most of his early fall time up the last few years.

Not as much color as you have up there Teal. But I figure by the end of the week we'll be there.

Supposedly the birds are thick this year. We saw 3 all in the same spot. 2 ram and one flushed. He chased one of the runners.

We only went for about an hour before the birthday party. I’d like to get out this weekend and make some of Dave’s grouse bake.

I'm sick of this wind. Just put in for deer tags on the new place. Can't believe it's been almost a year since we went under contract on it.
Still have a mile of fence to build before the snow flies, another mile next year and then hopefully we'll be done. Fingers crossed we get a mild fall and can get it all in.

Good thing you're not here. the snow is flying! 2" at my house...inside and out.

Hopefully it melts in the next few days. I have some bird hunting to do.

So a year ago my wife and I made an offer on some land to use for hunting and generate some money through grazing cattle. We're putting the 30 acres of crop land into crp because it's not enough to mess with for growing crops or renting out to a neighbor. We're planning on building on 10 acres of it and then grazing the other 120 that's dedicated range land. It has been badly overgrazed prior to us buying it so we rested it this summer. We're planning on planting a thousand trees and shrubs or so for habitat and wind protection. Puting in a few food plots for pheasants and deer next spring, along with reseeding some highly disturbed areas to native grass/forbs. We put in a waterline and 4 winter waterers that are resistant to freezing. We're excited but it's been a lot of work and expense so far. We're about to wrap up the first mile of fence and only have about 3 more miles to put in. Glad I have a strong boy to pound posts! Hopefully we get some deer off it this fall. I'll post pics when I can of the progress. Stay tuned!

I'm excited to see the progress Ryan.

Do you have many pics of deer out there yet?

Funny story, I sold all my trail cams a year and a half ago lol. I should get some with both cellular capabilities and without. We got hit hard by drought this summer so anything on the place is just moving through if anything. Next year will be good though. Fingers crossed.
My boy missed 4 prairie chickens this evening, and I had a dozen fly over me while fencing. No better place to be

Based on your cell phone coverage on that property I'd say save your money on those. laugh
