Lived there 2002-2003, met lots of them around the peninsula.

I'm sure I met more later but it's not often a topic of conversation.

Late sept oct 03 while I was back for surgery from Iraq.
3 of us went to LA to bury a soldier .
SSG H went to dover afb to escort his body to LA and link up with us.

I met the guy who is the voice of squidward on sponge Bob square pants thru the casualty affairs officer we had to coordinate with.

Met the world famous( I geuss) Santa Monica pier physdelic colored wig clown guy.
Dude was out their in orbit around the Keiper belt in his mind...

Had a run in waiting in line behind a blonde with a nice dress at a ATM while "she" was getting some cash in downtown high rise LA
" she" turned around to leave...

5 o clock shadow and a Adams apple from hades

Dumb founded on that one just standing their for a couple of seconds.
SSg H and Cpt S laughing their azz off at me seeing that all go down and my reaction to it from the van across the street.

Had some moments of greatness in LA..

This year. He owned the venue where my son got married. Total [bleep] and a liar. I’m not saying he represents the entire state, however.

The ones I know are good ol hard working country folk β€œwhich is a rarity I know” and they are great people. They hunt hard, fish hard and are truly hardcore outdoorsmen and women. I’ve worked out there with some really good folks. But they get squashed out by the ones that ain’t too good.

Are you kidding? You can't go anywhere here without tripping over them at every turn. Most common conversation starter in line at the grocery store is, "what part of California are you from?" It's like a freaking giant Californicator reunion.

Amen, since about 1970. A few years later, building Micron here devestated this state.

I have quite a few relatives in California. They are all from Montana homesteading families that moved on to California for mostly the climate and opportunity! Most of them now are from farming roots----grapes, almonds, etc. They are good people.

I don't know any of the ones that have moved here by the 100's since the 70's etc but if I have met any they didn't stand out!

I assume there is something different about them? Is there?

10 out of 10 (literally) of the most recent homes that have sold in my subdivision have been sold to California transplants.

They act like it too.

The trespassers who cut down my fence and ran their jacked up Bro truck across my cabin property to retrieve the elk they poached (they were only out of their unit by about 8 miles and the season was closed) were from Tahoe. The bigger one, when I told him to get the fug off my property had the balls to tell me that I was "Coming at him kinda hard" and bow up on me. Stupid fug. Their entitlement mentality was unreal. My oldest child was with me and that was likely the only thing that saved those idiots.

The reputation they have has been well earned.

Wher are you guys hanging out that you never meet someone from California? I meet one just about every day. Most are good people while a few are fuggwits just like everywhere else. The ones I run into are usually at work and people with decent jobs usually aren’t the problem in this country, it’s the 30 year old bartender chic that thinks somebody should be paying her and her illegitimate kids way through life.

Not everybody from California can just up and move out because the state is so screwed up. Many have ties and obligations that keep them there.

Hate and distrust of "outsiders" is a human trait that goes back to biblical times.

I've known some people from California. One, years ago, was the quintessential California surfer-girl and one of the first girls I thought I was in love with. Several Navy buddies from California and they were regular guys. Currently an old Navy friend and an old girlfriend in San Diego and they are good people too.

Believe it or not, there are homegrown azz wholes everywhere and there are immigrants from every state who make where they move to a better place.

Unfortunately for many, it's the idiots that tend go get and hold our attention. Also, many people just need to have someone to look down on or complain about.
