445,

I assume you are asking because you want to load for it. If you are interested, I know where there are several boxes for RWS factory ammo for it. If memory serves me correctly, $25.00 per box. But I could be wrong. The shop is about 90 miles from my home, but I think I will be going over there on Monday. If you are interested, I will check on it for you.

hello
these old cartridges are hard to find loads for--esp those of german heritage. try the may-june 1989 handloader # 139 for about 4- 6 different loads. article by john j stransky. good luck and keep up the questions.--cb

Rackett,

Do you think it's a 8X57JR which also has a .318 bullet?

I would have to look it up but i think it is the 318 bullit. The case is the same as the 8x57s (spitzer-323dia) If i remember correctly the origenol 318 dia. was a round nose bullit. I got the art on the 8x57R360 . It gives only 2 loads with american powders. I was hopeing for a few more to compaire. I was hopeing someone had a powley conputer to get and an idea. It,s not a black powder vintage gun. Krupp steel nitro proof markes. No makers name. Will have to dig out proof markes book out to see where made.

If your looking for loads for the 8X57JR then the ones at www.imrpowder.com look good to me.

The old Pacific manual has loads also but they look hot to me. In general consider the minimum load in manuals for the 8X57S to be the maximum load but don't use powders slower than 4064 for such ligher loads from such manuals.
