I am looking at the Tract Toric 2-10x44 scope with a BDC reticle to put on a Rem 700 .300 WM. The BDC reticle looks to be relatively fine, especially on the vertical axis. I'm wondering if anyone has used this reticle for hunting in wooded areas. I hunt a lot in open country but also in the timber, and I am wondering if the reticle is bold enough for use in wooded terrain. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Have you checked out their app that would let you use the excellent T-Plex and either dial or hold at long range? You can try it out and see if there’s a workable combo for your setup before you decide.

I wish they’d flip their “T-Plex” upside down and combine it with the BDC. Seems so obvious.

I have that very scope. Like it a lot! Most of my hunting is done in the high desert mountains. Most of my shots are at deer on a sage brush mountain side. Last year’s deer, however, was holed up into a little patch of aspens and scrub brush. I was shooting across a small canyon at it and able to see it just fine at 280 yards, and this was early morning with cloud cover, so the light was fairly subdued. I was able to see it just fine and yes, in case you’re wondering I did fill my tag.!

Honestly, I think part of it is the great optics of the scope. It’s the same scope I want when I’m doing depredation elk tags at dusk because it will give me a few more minutes of light. Get it, if you just flat out don’t like it, they’ll take it back.

Here’s another thought, call them up, they’re great people to talk to you and they won’t lead just astray. There’s a good chance that you’ll talk to one of the owners when you call.

I have 3 of that exact model. Im very impressed after trying several brands. While I’m sure there are others that have better options I find them ideal for a hunting scope. Only thing I whisked they offered on that model was a locking turret similar to the 30mm tubes for guys that want to dial. Reticle shows up very well

One thought, probably the only downside to the scope, is its weight, if that matters to you.

I have their response series in 2.5-10 on my boys tikka 223
It will work in heavy timber.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Thanks for the responses. It sounds like the reticle would probably work for me. I may give it a try.

I've done some dialing when shooting targets, but for hunting I prefer a BDC reticle as I don't shoot at animals over 400 yards or so, and a BDC seems to work well within that range.
