I would love to see a temp stable IMR 7828.

Develop your loads when it's colder, similar to when you are hunting and it's a moot point. I've never had an issue with 7828 in my 300wby's or 7mm rem mags. Its always been a great powder that delivers consistent loads.

Agree with bsa on this, never had an issue with 7828 and have used quite a bit of it over the years

30 years ago…..IMR 7828 was not temp stable when I cold weather tested it in a 270 with 150g NPt’s.

And yes, IMR 7977 was quite stable in a 270 with 160g NPt’s when I tested it almost 3 years ago. And that combo is very accurate in a pair of 270’s I loaded for.

I don’t shoot and hunt a lot with the 160’s, but have enough 7977 to keep me going for a number of years. Then I guess it will be back to good ‘ol H4831– which I have a ton of…..

Just wonder why they canned 7977, a temp stable 7828ssc would be a great consolation prize.

Enduron powder was preempted by military ammo/munitions contract(s).

Just about the time demand from the recreational shooter begins to decrease, demand for military ammo increases. Figures.

I should add I was told Enduron was discontinued for the time being, suggesting Hodgdon wants to bring it back.

7828 has been temp stable in my 300 WBY for decades.

So you’ve actually chronographed it at both 30* and 100*? I know that twenty years ago when I lived in Alaska there was a 100 fps difference in velocities between 20* and 80*F under 120-grain bullets in my .257 Weatherbys. I just reduced the load a few grains when hunting in”hot” weather. I haven’t tested newer lots recently, but it has always been the most accurate powder with heavy bullets in two different .257s.

7977. Always worked great in 7mm. Glad I've a good stock on hand.

Yes sir, I have. It is the least temperamental powder I have ever used & I keep a good supply of it.

You know DOBER used 7828 a lot . He had a lot of good advise sure miss him

I use IMR 7828 in my 280 Rem. I use 58.5 grs under a 154 gr SST bullet and it shoots the same at freezing as it does at 85-90 degrees. Temp sensitivity is not always cut and dry. It can change with different loads and bullet combo's. What can be issues with one load can be somewhat stable with another.

Yes sir I have. I worked the load up in 40° weather, hunted Axis with it in the Texas summer heat, 98°. Chrono'ed it several times through all temperature ranges and fluctuation is negligible..

I've found the same to be true of 7828ssc in 7WSM with 162/180s and 6mm CM with 108s.

I haven't done much with 7828. Tried it in my .280 Rem. and got graet velocity but crappy accuracy. The rifle just didn't like it.

What I do though is work my loads up through the spring through the fall. That means work ups are done when it's hotter'n hell. Average day may run from 90* in the spring and fall to 110* to 115* in July and August. I've seem late season hunts near to home that have run in the mid 90s. However my deer hunt were more in the northern part of the state when I could snag a tag. Elk hunts were in the late part of the year and I've had to take shots in temps ranging from 40* to 4 degrees above zero. Powders used during thsoe hunts was usually W760 (.308 and 30-06) to WMR (.270, .280 Rem. and .300 Win. Mag.) Both are temp sensitive but so far negative results have not showed up. Deer and elk just died.
