This looks pretty good. I like the way the skull sits close to the wall:

Have any suggestions for something different?

I fairly despise plaques, so that seems like a good alternative. I just use a piece of cable and a hook, but the teeth do tear up the wall a bit.

Depending on what you want and your home decor, this is an option for you.

Disclaimer: My brother in law is the manufacturer, these are made here in Idaho. There are several places to purchase these under the name "Iron Mountain Skull Hangers."

I recently re-surfaced a wall in my office and switched all my euros to this.

Simple, cheap, low profile and effective.

I do the same with elk and whitetails except I use paracord. Mule-Deer and Antelope I use a plaque to tip them a bit as they both look silly coming straight out of the wall.

I do something similar as Brad. I glue a small piece of 1x2 trim to the roof of the mouth to keep the teeth clear of the wall.

Save your money bud. Get one of those bicycle hooks that have a big threaded screw on the end. They are plastic covered. Open up the gap in the hook by putting one end in a vice and pulling the other. Works great but you have to be on a stud or something substantial. Skull lays very flat on wall. I have 4 like that.
