Marlin Model 1895 CB chambered in 45/70 Govt (JM proof) with 26” octagon barrel, Lyman receiver sight and rear sight insert. Rifle is in great condition – two small stock blems (one on forearm and one near bullseye) and one ‘pea-sized’ bluing blem on magazine tube. I am original owner. Actual round count is less than 500. Includes original box/papers. Asking $1450 for the rifle (FTF) or will ship to your FFL (from private individual) for additional fee. I have dies, brass, bullets, etc. that I could include as a package deal for additional fee. I have lousy internet service at home so I don’t login frequently. Please don’t bother with PMs. It's even painfully slow to upload photos. Please text “4570” and your email address to 814.449.1768 and I will respond to questions or provide additional photos. Rifle is also listed locally but I don't need to absolutely sell it so I won't give it away. Thanks and be well.

Unless you're willing wait for the buyer who thinks the value box is larger than the price box.

The truth may not be what you want to hear. It might be worth $1450 to you. It is not to me. The same rifle, NIB, will be around $1300 when Ruger starts offering them. There are a lot of issues with some vintages of Marlins which can only be identified by handling. That gun, used, is worth maybe $450 without handling and maybe $800 if it could be checked out in person prior to purchase. Anything beyond that is looking for a sucker.

I think what you’re up against is other rifles, mostly Winchesters, some newer and some that are 50-75 years old and still shootable being well made with quality materials and with more of a hands on industry standard and hands on workmanship. For instance you could spend a bit more (+$300- +$500) for some recent 86s, Browning 86 and 71, and many nice 33 Win takedowns. Pay about the same as your asking price for nice older shootable 30-30s and 64s, and many of the Win Big Bores in various chamberings as well as some nice older Marlins. $1.4K 14 months ago could have been doable, the market is tighter now and so is money supply. It really just depends on the person who believes they need it and what they intend to do with it. Today I would say because the 1895CB in somewhat of a niche rifle that an interested buyer could go +-$1,100.

It may be worth that much to me. I need to break my piggy bank to see what I have.

It will be worth much more when and if you decide to sell it.

Just saw one on Cabela's Used guns...$1899.99 (Remlin).

Nice to see one of my tubes is over twice what I paid for it!

Check out the completed auctions on Gunbroker for actual selling prices. It'll be over a grand for sure.

I screwed up and didn't buy my brother's 45-70 CB. It went for $1,000 at his estate auction. That was a few years ago.

That last time I saw a 45-70 Cowboy for $500 was 15 years ago at a gun show and still kick myself for not buying it. Those guns routinely sell for $1000+ all day long and anybody that tells you it is worth less is smoking something. Put it on gunbroker and see what happens.

Keep moving forward!

I'm thinking your price is reasonable and I've been looking at Marlin CB's for quite a while - since I screwed up and didn't buy my brother's. The ones I've seen are incredibly accurate.
