Has anyone tried Superformance with 75gr and heavier bullets in their 22-250? Looking at 70 gr data at Hodgdon’s website it looks like it might work.

Several years ago but I must've not liked the results as I switched to Varget with great success on 70-80 gr bullets.

What load did you settle on?

with 75 and 80 grain bullets in a Ruger 22.250, with a 24 inch Pac Nor Stainless barrel, heavy magnum contour, 1 in 7 twist,

I found the fastest velocity and accuracy combination has been a charge of 33.5 grains of IMR 4064, or RL 15 or IMR 4895.

thought 4350 powders or slower would give faster MV, but that turned out to be wrong.

MV with the ones I mentioned above are 3300 fps...

What load did you settle on?

31.5 grs Varget for 70 gr Berger VLD = 3270
30.5 grs Varget for 77 gr SMK

Hey Les, load up some of those 75's with your superformance and let us know how it works out for you. I see everyone wants to suggest the powder they use. I also have some Superformance powder I bought a few years ago. I've tried it in the 300wsm and 30-06 and some heavy 6.5 creedmoor loads, but was not overly impressed. In my 22-250, I am running AR Comp with 77SMK's. I do that because it's a powder that I can count on when everything else is only mediocre. AR Comp kicks azz. I have also ran RL15 and it has worked well. Of course AR Comp is just a reformulated RL15, so that totally makes sense. Keep us posted man.

I just worked up a very accurate load with 64 grain Hammer bullets with Superformance but I haven't chronographed them yet. I'm sorry I can't help with heavier bullets and Superformance in the 22-250 AI. I did have very good luck with RL 17 and 88 grain ELD-M's.
