270 with 130s, I load for 3 of them.

Probably my favorite powder in the .260 Rem for bullets 129gr and heavier. Works in the 6.5 CM too with the heavier bullets but compression is a little more than I like in that case.

My first choice in the .270 Win.

H4831 is probably my favorite "all around" rifle powder for my larger cases and/or longer barrels:

270Win, 24" barrel 130BTs , ABs
300WM, 24" barrel 165 TGKs, , 180 BTs and ABs
6mm SLR 26" Barrel, 105 Hybrids

It works well in so many cartridges, that it is hard to pick. My latest use for the last pound that I had, was for my .270.

I own two rifles chambered for 270 WIN, they both get their best performance (velocity/accuracy) from handloads using H4831sc. A M-70 with the 130 grain Interlock and a M-77 with the 140 grain Interlock.

My .270 is a M70, also. I got the rifle in a trade with the intention of selling it, since it is right hand. My buddy said," Don't shoot it, if you intend to sell it". I shot it and now still have it. 60 grains of H4831 under the 130 Interlock is amazingly accurate and deadly on deer. IMR 4831 is there, also, however a bit slower speed.

I have enough ammo loaded with the IMRs, to last me probably the rest of my days-if I don't sell it.

i use it in my Rem 700 .280 with 140 grain Accubonds. It gives me good accuracy and velocity.

.243 Winchester - 100 grain bullets -
7x61 S&H Super - 140 and 154 gr -
.308 Norma Mag - 165, 180 and 200 gr -
.300 Weatherby - 165, 180, 200 gr -

In some cases, newer powders produce more velocity. Truthfully, I am reluctant to develop new loads for thes rifles as I am very satisfied with the performance of the ones I use now.

I don't use it in my 6.5 Creedmoor, .30-06 or .338 Win Mag. I prefer H4350 for the first two and RL22 or RL19 for the .338

I like it in 270 with 130 gr bullets. 59.5-60 gr depending on primer used.

300 H&H with 180 Partitions
338 WM with 250 Partitions
Oddly, maybe, both of those weren't long involved work-ups, but the first powder tried with those bullets.
I used a bunch of it in a 8mmMag with 220 Xs and Sierras also, come to think of it.
Looks promising in a 358 STA with 250 grain bullets too.

You should try a double base powder. For the extra kick.

It was good in my .280 as well, but I found Re19 gave a little extra oomph with the same accuracy. But Re19 can be a bit patchy to find here at times so when it runs out I'll most likely go back to H4831sc.

Can H4831 and H4831sc be used interchangeably? Is there a very notable difference in velocity and pressure? I've used and got good results with H4831, but have no experience with H4831sc.

Yes, same/same. SC = short cut. supposed to be easier to meter than non sc, but....................maybe.

Yeah,I knew sc stood for short cut and would have obvious metering advantages, but was not sure whether velocity and pressure was the same for any given measure.
