I’m celebrating the end of a LONG hard relationship by getting a really nice hat I’ve liked for a Long, long time. The metaphor is pretty clear … I’m done with that chit… put my hat on and exit.

Nice hat.. Turn the brim down in front and I'd wear it. Never liked an upturned brim in front but that's just me. Can't beat a nice Stetson.

Spotshooter: I like that hat - rim up looks just fine to me. In fact if you could forward the address of that hats selling place I might just get one for myself. Good luck with the new hat and the new direction in your life. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

You needed to end a relationship to buy a hat?
Life is too short for that crap.
ETA: wear the hat however you like, screw everyone else.

Spotshooter; Good afternoon to you sir, I hope that despite the circumstances that surround you with the relationship terminating that you're doing as well as can be in other areas.
Am I seeing a Stetson Stratoliner there?
If so, that's a well made hat from a good company.
As a long, long time hat wearer, though I've been wearing western hats with a wider brim for the past 42 years - bought my first one when I moved to Calgary. It was a Canadian made Biltmore who used to make western hats but are pretty much fedoras nowadays I believe.
I'd never owned a real Stetson until this spring when our daughter and I did our annual pilgrimage to the local gun show and a fellow was selling 4 different colors of the Stetson Crushable Outback hat so a smaller brim than I'm used to but a tad bigger than the fedora. Anyways, she chose the one she thought was the right color and I've been wearing it out and about ever since.
Hats - to me - are a personal choice and definitely make a statement about who one sees oneself as that day. So for whatever it's worth sir, I'd say if you like it, then buy it and wear it in whatever shape you're feeling that day, you know?
Anyways sir again just a few random thoughts from a little old hat wearing BC redneck and not much more.
All the best and good hunting.
Dwayne
