I been shooting Hornady American Whitetail 150gr for a few years. They are becoming harder to find in my area so looking to change shot a box of Winchester Power Point 150gr at the range it was a little windy only got 2" groups at 100 yards. Was thinking of trying Federal Fusion 150gr. Never shot Federal rifle ammo before did with shotgun years ago and was not impressed. Any y'all shoot Federal Fusion .308 150gr?

If talking budget-ish ammo, there probably isn't a more reliable factory deer bullet out there than a Fusion. Only seen good results with them in 7mm/.30/.358 on deer and hogs.

I can't speak to the .308 version but the .223 62 grain Fusion bullet has been excellent on deer....and a couple of coyotes, a bobcat, a fox, a wheelbarrow load of armadillos. It's also shot well in multiple .223's, both bolt and gas.

If I were looking for factory ammo to try, I'd be happy to give any Fusion ammo a try.

I'd recommend Federal Blue Box which seems available in several Walmart's.
Don't be surprised if it equals the best handlaods you have generated.

I have used the Federal blue box (Power-Shok) 150 grain in .308 for a total of 1 deer. They shot well enough in my 1B that I would not hesitate to use them before spending a bunch of money on something else. The only deer I shot with the stuff was (IIRC) around 35 - 50 yards and the impact-side shoulder was totally devastated. I'm told here that's not the usual type performance. Since then I'm back to loading my own .308's.

Most cheap 308 ammo from major American makers is pretty accurate. You may have more trouble finding a bad load than a good one.

In my 308 rifles, I've had good luck with Remington CoreLokt, Federal blue-box, and Winchester PowerPoint in 150- and 180-grain loadings. For whatever reason, I haven't tried many 165-grain 308 loads. Some rifles shoot one weight better than the other, but most stay well under 1.5 MOA and some will stay under 1 MOA with the loads they shoot best.

If you want to stick with Hornady, try this: https://ammoseek.com/ammo/308-winchester/Hornady-rifle-150grains

Barnes ammo with the 130 or 150 TTSX, not the TSX, is accurate in every rifle I’ve tried it and consistently provides excellent terminal performance.

I've yet to try the 130 T-tsx, I was going to work up a load, then some life stuff happened. I have used the 150 grain in T-tsx with good results.

I have been a big fan of the Federal Fusions. They are a great quality, bonded bullet at a good price. I shoot the .308 150s in both my Kimber Montana and my Ruger American and both shoot under MOA at 100 & 200 yards. Ive also shot Fusions through my 6.5 manbun, '06 and my 300 WSM with similar results. They are one of the rounds I usually recommend to my buddies to try first when they are looking for a round that shoots good out of their rifle.

Federal ammo shoots great in my Savage 99EG. The Federal Premium stuff is even better. I am sub 1", 5 shot groups at 100. If I miss with that rifle, I'm messing up.

A few years ago I bought a couple of boxes of the cheap federal 308 150 grain ammo. I use 180's for hunting though, but the price was too good to pass up. Anyway, that cheap federal ammo shot lights out. I wouldn't have any problem using it for hunting

All these answers are spot on but if you can try the Norma Whitetail 150 grainers you might be shocked at how good they shoot. Reminds me of Federal Blue box and Fusions . Awhile back Norma ran a $15 per box special. Glad I bought what I did. Save the great Norma brass and it's a win win. Their rimfire ammo is really good for my CZ's also. Good luck!

I know a guy that uses Norma ammo in his 7 mag and 30-06. He says the same thing

You can get the Norma’s for about $18/box shipped to your house right now direct from their website. Can’t beat that with a 10ft pole

If those fusions don't shoot good may look at Norma's.

You might want to try the .308 Federal Fusion 165 gr too if you ever want a little more weight. This has been my go-to .308 ammo since I tried it maybe 10 yrs or more ago.

I see your in Torbert ion your profile. Just pass State capital Drag way on 190. I'm in Plaquemine and I can tell you the local walmart has tons of 308 ammo. from 150's - 180's. I started reloading for my Tikka 308 strictly for a higher BC bullet, but mine will bug hole Fed blue box 150's and will shoot Rem corloks just about the same. Your not that far from me so its worth a drive. But you have to go to the one in Plaquemine, because the Walmart in Port Allen is easy pickings for the Baton Rouge crowd coming off the bridge.

I’d surprised if the Fusions didn’t shoot as good or better.
