[Linked Image from i.imgur.com] Marlin 57M, 22 magnum. took it out to sight it in for 25 yards, for squirrels. I also have a a model 56 22lr, that shoots better. better trigger. This is 5 shots at 25. 50 has essentially the same point of impact. [Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

Nice looking rifle and good shooting. I’ve had a couple 57’s and a 56. Liked them fine and had no problems. Accuracy was good. Detractors I recall; overall weight and the triggers were sloppy and a bit stiff. I never really looked into lightening the triggers or getting rid of the side to side play, just shot them as is. Don’t see many around anymore. Of course I’m not around as much as I used to be.

Haha! Yeah, I don't get around much either! The 1955 model 56 trigger is lighter than the 57m. They both break pretty clean, thankfully. I didn't find the triggers sloppy, but I agree on the weight . That helps at the range.

I have a couple of 57s, a .22 and a .22 mag. Super fun plinking guns. I don't mind the weight. They are "full size rifles", you know you're not shooting a boys gun.

I don't mind it either, but they are relatively heavy. The 39 is full size as well. They sure do shoot well!

I was rummaging through some guns on layaway that hadn't been paid on in a long time at a Western Auto where I worked part time. A 57M was in the bunch, I'd never heard of or seen one. That was about 1972. Slick little action, but heavy. That it had been there for three years amazed me.

Cool! I love old 22's. Most of them are pretty good shooters! I HAVE had a few clunkers though...a Noble pump comes immediately to mind. An awful thing. They are kinda collectable now, probably because they were so bad nobody wanted them.

My uncle had an old Mossberg with the fold down forearm. Boy could that old rifle shoot. I'm sure one of his boys has it now.

No doubt! I have a couple of old Mossbergs as well. Very good shooters. They are a 320BA, and a 340BA. Peep sights, not a scope. They both shoot better than I can see!
