Which one of these factory 270Win ammo (assuming my rifle likes it) would you choose for an upcoming Aoudad hunt in Texas? I'm leaning toward the 150G Partition or 136G Terminal Ascent.

Personally, I would use the Federal with the 150gr Partitions.

TSX or TTSX

You won’t get better weight retention than either of those.ime

Good luck on your hunt.

Personally, I’d go with Federal Blue box or Hornady 130s. They’re not bullet proof!

Despite some Texas outfitters even recommending the .375 H&H for aoudad, they are indeed not bullet proof.

A good friend who had never hunted them before wanted to use a custom .250 Savage bolt rifle that shot 100-grain Nosler Ballistic Tips ver well, and asked me if it would work. I said yes, due to past field experience on similar-sized deer--and even though the outfitter was a .375-type my buddy took his .250. They got within 250 yards of a big ram, my friend shot it in the right place, and the ram went 50 yards and keeled over dead....

Given the choices you mentioned. I’ve never owned a 270. But I’ve killed a lot of game with my .264 Win Mag using the plain ole 125 gr Nosler Partition and a 120 gr Ballistic Tip.

Like Mule Deer said, they’re not bullet proof.

Which ever groups best. Aoudad aren't that tough. Any of those bullets in the chest will work.

Barnes 130 gr. TTSX- full stop (if your barrel groups it well).

You'll get expansion and pass-thru at virtually any angle, nothing flies flatter.

either the 130 grain sp interlocks or 130 or 150 partitons. shoot a group at 100 with all of em then press the easy button. chances are one of those will do well.

Who the heck made a 136 grain bullet for Federal?

Maybe they are Auodad specific!!!!!

PS- pick a box.....any box....

130 TTSX. Dads aren’t hard to kill. Killed a bunch with a bow, bullets will have no problem. It’s about shot placement as always.

Good luck, hope you get a big one!!

Any one will work well.

Never use factory rounds, but the Barnes would be fine.

Any of the ammo you have stacked up will work. Statement based on real life experience But certainly not a gun writer if that makes a difference.

I shot one a long time ago when we were
hunting a HF ranch. It wasn't very far away,
maybe 75-80 yards away. Old 30/30
Sears/Marlin. Only needed the one shot
like the rest of the deer killed that weekend.
The guy at the ranch wanted the head and
I let him have it since the ragged thing
stank like a barrel of feminine hygiene
products.
Never had or used a 270, but I'd bet whatever
you stoke it with will work fine

Good Luck
