I had good luck with the two Dodge/Cummins pickups I had, so I took a chance with the Durango. So far, (less than a year) no regrets. Seems like there's more room than an Explorer/Police Interceptor. I based my decision to go with it largely based on good reports I got from nearby county sheriff's who really like their Chargers and said they have held up well in a tough, rural environment. Montana Highway Patrol also has had Chargers for a while, but I don't know any troopers to ask how they have held up. I bought the Durango strictly as a street and highway car, not for any kind of off-road, camping, or hunting use.

I may be odd man out here.

Momma got an 05 Durango 5.7 Hemi six years ago with 120K on it. It is now well over 200K

At purchase it was running a little warm. A new radiator and high volume fan cured that. Since then, It has gotten new pads and rotors, a battery, and a trans service at a highly reputable shop. Oh, and last spring, a new AC compressor. I also added a unit in the wiring harness to firm up shifts in the transmission.

Not bad for a rig with that many miles and six years service.

It has plenty of power to pull a horse trailer, or a 5000 lb boat, or RV in mountainous terrain. It has body on frame construction, (built on the Dakota chassis) or I would not use it for towing.

Fuel mileage is not bad for a decent HP V8, 8 passenger tow capable rig.

My daughter just bought a 2015 Durango. It is unibody construction which it shares with the Cherokee.

Who has one or knows enough, that can fill me in on good years, bad years, issues, problems , etc. ?

I decided to look at 2022 new...

You have to go all the way to the RT level to get the V8... They start at $51,600.

The website says AWD (not 4WD)... not sure if that matters to folks... That kicks the price $2k more.

They do come with a limited 36,000 mile warranty.

Not my cup-o-tea.

Looking at used, with a price of about 20k, cash.
Thinking a Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, or eek, California vehicle, so no rust issues.
Not sure how much emission bs is on a CA. vehicle that affects mileage ?
We can fly for the right vehicle, or have it shipped.

If you like cheap Plastic interiors, squeaks rattles, poor fuel mileage, and unreliability go for it. At $20k for a SUV your not buying anything low mileage either.

We're older, won't travel very far in it, so mileage isn't a major issue.
Grocery shopping, doc visits, taking the lab to hunt tests, local fishing, etc.
Something other than 2, 1 ton pickups, a Volvo semi tractor, or the back hurting, (for her) 300 car.
The car was purchased as a commuter vehicle for her. She is now retired.
It has outlived its usefulness for us.
It's a pain to climb up out of, the lab hates the back seat, and it doesn't do well with the road tires that are on it.

So how are the seats in one ?
Head room ?

There's a 2013, with a 6 speed, and 5.7l local. Has 136k on it.
We're gonna go look at it.

Never mind.
The tranny is blown, and they are going to wholesale it.
Waste of time....
