Got sick over the past weekend and wound up at ER.
After CT scan and bloodwork I was informed I have a 8cm tumor on my left kidney.
Im only 46 yo.
I have a appointment with a urologist today.
The only symptom ive had is sciatica for 6 months

Being a medical person, keep us posted and updated on your treatment of this problem, and its progress.
You're young still and so you should be healthier than someone say in their 60s or 70s.
You also have two kidneys like everyone else, so if it is needed to be removed, you still have another one to carry on the job.
So this problem is far from having no solution for it.
Hope you are under decent Doctors also.
Remember, you have a lot of friends here on the Campfire that will be on your side, and giving prayers to the Good Lord to get you thru this.

Coworker had similar.
Surgery this sunmer, was back to work after a few weeks and is doing great.
He only has the one, since he donated the other yrs ago.
Also, not everybody has 2 kidneys. Some have 3 or just 1.
Theres some acronym for premies where the R stands for renal and that could mean born with one kidney.
Like 1 in 15000. Many people never know what theyve got LOL.
One kidney, surgery and should be good. Two kidneys?
Relax, should be even smoother sailing.

You didn't say where the tumor was located? On either the upper or lower lobes, should be easier for the surgeon to get t0 and remove. In the middle is a little more tricky.

Friend of mine found out he only had one and it was cancerous. A trip to the Cleveland Clinic, surgery, and rehab. Cancer free and doing fine. A few lifestyle changes and now 3/4 of one kidney. Doing fine. You will too.
