Last year I had to cut out a fence post on my KS ground while putting in a new gate. Post felt super dense and of course quite old. Figured it was Osage Orange. Sent a chunk to Charlie May and he confirmed it was Bo'Darc as he called it, or Osage Orange. I probably spelled that wrong. So I picked a couple styles and put him to work. The pics sure look nice and I'm anxious to give them a run. I shot my first buck off this place about 70 yards from where the post was so it'll be nice to use them out there on future critters.

Those look great! I have a Buk95, it's one of my favorite knives.

Nice pattern choices and those handles look great!

Who knew a hedge apple tree made such a nice handle.

Congrats.

Wow, that is really cool. In my neck of the woods - Alberta, Canada - we don't have many hardwoods. Certainly none suitable for a custom knife.

How does the fishbone compare to the skipjack size wise?

Maybe a tad shorter?

Great story...Great looking knives!
Bet they will work as good as they look. Charlie builds a fine knife.
Congrats.

Charlie did say one thing to keep in mind on the osage orange. They start out that really pretty yellow tint and tend to darken a little over time. Not sure these will since they are so old but if they do that is fine too. I found about a 6' post that was just laying on the ground last trip. Its super heavy for its size. Gonna give that to a buddy who wants to try to make a selfbow.

If you end up with some leftover Osage Orange and have a wood stove that stuff burns HOT. Makes great fence post, tool handles and firewood. I rehandled an old wheel barrel I have with some Osage and doubt the handles will ever need replaced.

He wants to carve it out. Not sure if this piece will work as it has a bit of cracking from being so old. Works for knife handles but not sure there is a whole bow inside of one.

As MOGC says, might make a great hatchet handle. If you need any Don let me know.
