Miserable busting ass wind for deer opener today, keeps spitting a bit of snow on and off. Didn't hear a shot all morning, or see any deer.

I think we had two weeks of "fall".

Lately it's been morning after morning of low single digits here. High expected to be all of 35F today.

Sam mentioned the tomatoes bein' gonners. Yep, the ones under the hoops and greenhouse plastic that I covered with sheets and stuff every night were DED like Roy a couple days ago when I looked. They were hanging in there during the two weeks or so where morning temps were in the teens. Evidently, the weak low angle sun for a few hours a day was not enough to warm them up enough to make it through the night. 10:40 here and it's not above freezing yet. Snow that fell over a week ago is still hanging around, and that ain't normal this time of year.

Cold snap screwed up my fall bulb planting too. Ground has already started to freeze. Have to keep them in cold storage and get them out in the spring.

Fall colors? Ha, Junipers don't change much with the seasons. Sagebrush just gets a little browner from the seed heads dying too.

Typical fall here two weeks. We are about 4 degrees warmer than Geno. Eat your heart out Geno, it's pushing tropical here today. Estimated high of 36 this afternoon. To bad about your tomatoes. At least it not so cold the chickens feet are freezing and loosing their claws! Had that happen a couple times growing up. Only on the larger chickens. The banties seemed to hold up better! Stay warm guys, in the north.

I'm concerned about my old hens, they're gonna be 5 in the spring. Down to only three out of the 7 we got originally. Wondering if they'll make it through a rough winter.

I guess it's not unusual weather, historically. Article in the local rag, in their "on this day in" column. I guess 100 or so years ago there was a fire in town, temp at 2F, spray was freezing as it came out of the fire hoses. Since we've been here, this time 2016, it seems it hasn't been this cold, this long until at least December and for sure in Jan.

Ain't nothin' but to deal with it I guess.

Salmonella: Thanks for that beautiful warmish looking fall photo.
NO.... its NOT fall here - we have not been above freezing since 1:00 PM on November 6th (over 12 days ago now!)!
Its winter here I have an 18" deep snow drift in my parking pad.
10" of snow on level ground.
"Official" low this morning here was 14.6 degrees BELOW zero.
At least our towns are not swarming with addicted and mentally deranged (no offense meant slumload) homeless cretins.
Yeah fall was nice here - all 4 days of it.

Fall came and went in a hurry here in SW mo.

We went from about 80 for a high to 20 for a low in about 3 weeks and it has remained cold
