I've had a 27 for a long time. What are your opinions?

I prefer the 26, which is the same gun, but in 9mm. I had a Gen 4 27 (or was it a Gen 3?), and didn't like it. A bit too snappy in the recoil department for my liking. Sold it.

I got one. 180’s are the most comfortable to shoot. A 9mm conversion barrel is a handy to have too.

I have had G26 for long time. I now carry .40 S&W. For that caliber I would pick enough grip length ie G23. In .40 the Gen 5 is improved version (more robust slide) which is the only way I would roll if buying another gun from that brand.

I’ve had a Glock 27 since 2007. I have one magazine with the Pierce + 1 extension but carry it 9+1. I also put Talon grips on it (the sandpaper type) which makes it easier to control. Last qual with it I shot 50/50 about a six inch group from 3-25 yards. I carry it with Black Hills Honeybadgers now, which recoil about like a 9mm. It’s a snappy little guy but like anything else it can be shot well with practice.

Buddy has one and i hate it.

If I grip a Glock just right I line up the corner of the grip, my middle knuckle on the thumb and a nerve in there. Recoil feels like a shock that hurts like hell. The Size and recoil of the G27 make it almoist a certainty.
trying to avoid it leads to a weird grip.

I have had a gen 3 G27 since the late 1990s. It’s one of my favorite pistols. It just works for me.

Maybe one of the best. Had one and loved it. Also had an 9mm conversion for it if I felt I needed to fire of 9mm. There's also available larger mags.

There's a lot of pocket rockets out there being marketed but even today the baby Glocks are hard to beat. I'd love to have another Glock 27 but already have the glock 22, 23, and a Shield 40.

The 27 is my cold/cool weather carry gun. Of all the Glocks that own, I shoot the 27 the best. It is not for everyone but I cannot find anything wrong with it.

The G26 has always been more popular as an off duty carry gun at our agency, many folks cite the snappy recoil of the G27 as the problem.

G26 is a piece of schit as well.

Total waste of time.

I carried a Gen 4 G27 for 6 years when I was a plain clothes Detective. IWB in a Comp-Tac infidel. Loaded with 180 grain HST ammo. Total confidence in this pistol. Mine is the Flat Dark Earth frame model.

G27 is the most traded-in gun there is.

That should tell you something.

I really gt a kick out of macho guys in a gun shop trying to convince their wives / girlfriends that they need a G-27 as their 1st carry gun.

Since it's not a pocket gun, might as well carry something slightly bigger that is easier to shoot.......G-19, M&P Compact 2.0, etc.

I have a G27 gen3 and love it. The G27 was my EDC for many years but doesn't see as much time now days. I also had a G26 a long time ago that I foolishly sold.

My G27 came with a barrel that was a stinker, so it was replaced with a KKM barrel and that combo has been fantastic. I like the accuracy with it and found that it likes 180g slugs, some of my warmer reloads and for carry was the HST 180g +P.

I would never sell it and this thread reminds me that I need to get it out shooting soon.

The G27 is not everyone's cup tea. Thankfully their are many options. I happen to like the G27. But, I have 28 years of trigger time with Glocks. Shoot/carry what you like and feels good in your hand. Practice, a lot, not just static shooting, but include presentations from the concealment. Shooting and moving, make the bad guy have to look for you in an engagement. The majority of your training should be from the contact position, 5 yards or less. Build confidence in that carry piece and then go live your life. There is no one correct choice in a weapons platform.

Guns like the 27 short change their user right out of the gate.

You're immediately compromising the two most important factors in a handgun: Sight radius and grip.

The shorter sight radius is going to be a handicap and you're causing massive mitigation to the most important aspect of combat handgunning which is the ability to establish a proper grip.

To make things even worse, you gain almost zero advantage in the concealability department. You're still carrying a double-stack width Glock which is going to print almost as bad as 19 or 19X size grip frame and slide length. Unless of course you're carrying appendix, but that would mean you could easily carry a 19 or 19X size gun and have the same levels of concealment.

I can't tell you how many know-it-all shooters I've had tell me they "shoot their 26/27 just as well they do their 17/22."

"Oh really?" Start timing them and run drills like 2, 2, & 2? Or 1, reload, 1? Or the Bill Drill? Or the abbreviated Bill Drill? Or The Dicken Drill?

They invariably reply with "Oh fugk I can't shoot this thing for schit."

Because they can't.

Because they fugking suck.

In my experience, the 26/27 prints noticeably less than the 19/23 when carried IWB at 4:00 (but then, the 19/23 is pretty good in that department, too), and draws and shoots (in the case of the 26, anyway) nearly as well. It's a worthy compromise, IMO.

Like I said, though, for me, the 27 is too snappy, but that's how I feel (to a lesser degree) about the 22 and 23.
