A buddy and I hunted together this evening out of my box stand. We got into the stand around 3:00pm and at 4:15pm he dropped the hammer on this buck. We ran out to grab a pic while there was still light then hurried back to the stand in hopes a doe would pop its head out. Around 5:30 we had another small buck come slipping around the edge of the woods and then shortly after that a whole group of does stepped out into the field to feed. I brought along the Colt 6920 just for kicks.
I completely whiffed the shot at the first one. No idea where it landed but it wasn't on her. The 1-4x did make it a bit tougher in the failing light than I thought it would be. (Gotta have excuses, right?) at the shot the group bolted back into the safety of the woods; but this one stuck around looking confused a little too long. I managed to regain my composure long enough to slip a 55g Sierra Gameking right behind the shoulder. She ran roughly 20-25 yards and tipped over, leaving a blood trail Ray Charles could follow. (150yd shot)
We may take another doe or two and then again we may not. We are actually over populated with does here on the farm and removing a few more wouldn't hurt.
