Last year I bought a Windham Weaponry 9mm carbine on a whim. I’ve never shot a PCC, or any AR for that matter, so looking for guidance on optics. Will be used just to plink and play around with, not a home defense weapon. 1x red dot, 2x or 3x prism, or ???? TIA

I run a red dot on mine. I can shoot pretty fast. I don’t see much need for magnification.

I put low powered variables on my two. Think of it like a high velocity 22 with a bigger bullet

My 9mm AR carbine and 9mm AR pistol both have Red Dot sights on them. Pretty quick on target.

I like low-power variables as well.

I hadn’t considered low power variables. With the 1-4 on sale at swfa maybe that’s worth trying.

Good eyes will work as well.

Had a Marlin Camp 9 for a number of years, plain old iron sights. For 9mm shooting they worked fine and it was a blast. HOWEVER, it’s surprising how well a 9 can be arced downrange even at 200 yds or so. Much like holding the front sight up on a revolver and watching where the dirt flies on the far hillside. For that reason a low power variable would just add to the fun. Get one with reasonable eye relief and a 1 to 1.5 low end and rock n roll.

I asked a similar question when I built my first ar9 , 10.5in barrel. but now the more I've shot it I've come to realize just a simple Red Dot is quite sufficient. it actually shoots flat enough it's not hard to use a red dot side of the end of the proper distance. within its capable range. now if you want to try some target shooting couple hundred yards out or something yeah you might want a different kind of optic..

I am using a Holosun 510C on mine.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

I agree. I own several. Anything that usually gets used within 100 yards of mine, has one on it. They've been discontinued now and getting much harder to find, even used on ebay so if you find one, grab it while you can.

I have them on 22 squirrel getters. Many of my pistol calibers have them on them.

For anyone that likes a little extra magnification, I recommend them.

Otherwise, I just use red dots.

Pistol caliber and subsonic rifle stuff aren't long range sniper things. Within about 125 yards is where they shine.

I run a pistol red dot on mine for competition. It does it all quickly. Smaller dot (3x) works well on the carbine.

I guess I already answered this post….
