Have bids on a few rifles, 3 are in 22 long rifle, I heard I have the Winchester model 290 coming, still waiting to see if I get the Ruger stainless 10/22 takedown and the CZ455

I had a Ted Williams version of the 290 with pretty nice wood and some gross impressed checkering. It had a plastic block under the forearm that IIRC took the screw that held it all together. Used to “climb” the POI pretty severely as the barrel heated.

Took Shorts, which was pretty fun, back when shorts were $.59 a box.

I have a 190, a 290, and a Sears 3-T, crappy triggers, but fun plinkers. A few years back, GPC had NOS high grade wood for them for less than $100, so I spent the $$ to upgrade the 190, a 270, and a 275.

Winchester's previous .22 semi-auto was the Model 77, made of blued steel and walnut, a nice rifle, but the 190/290, 150/250/255, and 270/275 series shared a lot of the same parts and were less expensive to produce.

Older 22s are fun . Last one I picked up was the Canadian made Winchester 490. It's had the recall nice wood for a 22 in the 70s. Shoots and feeds pretty well. Winchester 67 and 121 are in the safe too . Remington 581 and 514 and a couple Ithaca 49s .

I have 4 of the 490's one I bought new and three from auctions.
Two of the auction ones had the recall done.

I never owned one of the "newer" Winchesters, but I do have a Winchester Model 63 and a Model 74. They're sitting in the safe waiting for me to shoot them.

Got the Ruger takedown, now waiting on the CZ and a second BL22

Well the 290 came in, now waiting for the 10/22 takedown stainless.
Have to go try a couple shots out of the 290.

I ran across a different 22 I've never seen before the other day. A marlin 49dl, had a slim receiver and a press checkered stock, walnut. In pretty good condition, they were asking 200. From what I understand, they take 60 parts, just a two piece stock instead of a one piece.

Anyone have any experience in these? I've always stayed away from the later "painted" reciever 22 outside of a 10/22.

so 290 does not work well, so took apart for cleaning, will see how it is after that, the 10/22 take down came in, looks real nice, goes together well, have not tried it yet, but plan on taking a couple shots in the workshop to see how it functons.

The 9422 is on its way, cant wait to see how it looks and works.

Have few bids on a few more rifles, so getting to be an expensive hobby.

Well I am liking the 10/22, functions well and is a nice compact package, no issues when shooting some federal ammo, it came with two mags, although I have more than a few already, even a 110 drum mag.
I reaLy like the takedown feature. Comes apart easily and back together solidly, nice being stainless and having a synthetic stock.

I wouldn’t take it apart anymore than you have to. Eventually it could start to loosen up.

So mounted an old Bushnell on the 10/22 takedown, it has fine crosshairs and then turn a ring and a post pops up, it’s a 4 power, just thought I would try it.

I have my late brothers 243 where he had the same scope on it.
