Hey All,

Have a 99E in 243 with birch wood that I’m replacing. I have a walnut stock and forend from a 99F, the stock works and think I can sand the forend to fit and would be glad for any tips there. But I'm also wondering about finding a walnut forend that already fits, any recs on which model to look for? Thanks, so much great info here!

A fore end to "match" a 99F buttstock for a 20" barreled rifle? I would look for a pre-war 99R fore end. It is easy to recognize with two lines that wrap around the fore end near the tip. It'll be hard to find. Most likely you'll find another E fore end in walnut but it won't be checkered like the 99F buttstock.

Great info, thank you - both of those look great! A little bit of looking didn't turn either up on gb or ebay. I worked on the F with some sandpaper and it's pretty close now but I'm going to keep my eye out for these as the F has a light crack.

Cut checkered before 1964. Pressed after.

I like the look of your 99. I wish I could find that setup for my 99E.

I'm sorry, I meant to ask if the F buttstock he is trying to match is pressed or cut checkering.
