I took my new (old) H&R 20 gauge single shot shotgun to the range for the first time. It has a fixed modified choke but I wanted to see if it migh be a viable turkey gun with TSS shot. I patterned it at 30 yards, Not terrible IMO. I think it's certainly viable at 30 yards, maybe a bit more.

Compared to my Wicnhester SX4 20 gauge with the standard Invector Plus full choke tube at 30 yards.

Dean, I think youi said your new old H&R has the same choke. Should be a fine little turkey gun as is at reasonable rnages.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Same choke constriction. I have everything, except the time, to test it out!

Mine shoots a wee bit right. I think you can see it on the #7 target. I held a hair left on the #9 shoot.

It's got some serious ejection, too. Crack that thing open and it pops the empty shell out 10+ feet.

Like the #9's pattern best.
It only takes one pellet to the skull or CNS to anchor a bird. A good pattern of #9's will definitely do the J-O-B!

I consistantly kill turkeys with #8's. I prefer a dense pattern over large shot. A turkey's skull and neck vertebra are prettily easily penetrated.

Targets number 3 and number 6 with #9 shot is "meat on the table"!
