I've got a Kabar 1211 "Parachute" knife. It's in great shape and still pretty doggone sharp, but I'd like to sharpen it back to a razor edge. I can sharpen a carbon steel blade with a carborundum stone or Arkansas stone, but don't have much luck with bigger blades. Have any of you ever used or had any luck with the Kabar knife sharpener? It's a simple pull through set up at the proper angle. https://www.kabar.com/products/product.jsp?item=9926

Am more keen on stropping than sharpening, but I'll have to pick one up, sometime. Looks handy.
Don't ask me about my military service or heroic acts...most of it is untrue.

Works like a champ on plain Jane, carbon steel blades. I use the puddin' out of it when I'm boning a deer...that and a butcher's steel. Keeps me slicing and dicing until I'm done!

Look at Smiths for example. THIS ONE from Smith’s thru Bezos is 4 bucks. I have several and they flat work. May be the best thing short of using a Lansky, edge pro, etc. The k-bar doesn’t have the ceramic finish sticks that I can see.

Lotta people use those types and like them.
I about blew a gasket when my father in law, thinking he was being nice, took my sharp knife and ran it through one of those.
Big difference between right and good enough. Those are good enough.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Most knives just need steeled to straighten the edge. Otherwise a Rada gives the same degree for a lot less money.

Most sharpeners are 15 to 20 degrees. One of those would have to seriously change the angle on a Kabar.

Worksharp come with 20 and 25 degree guides, overall 45 degree is right in the range of most knives, 22.5 is average for pull through sharpeners.

Real men spend $500 on an Edge Pro.
Imagine a corporate oligarchy so effective, so advanced and fine tuned that its citizens still call it a democracy.

I can sharpen okay with it, I just have a hard time keeping it steady. "Steady" might not be a problem, it just bothers my OCD and OFS! If the Kabar works, the $28 doesn't bother me.
