I recently purchased a CZ 527 Carbine 7.62x39 . I wanted one of these for a while but never got around to it . The overall build quality of this Mini Mauser is outstanding. I mounted a Leupold 3-9 compact on it . It handles extremely well and I think it gonna make a great Hunting/ utility rifle.
Looking for suggestions on accurate hunting loads advice ?
Accuracy potential?

Thanks in advance.

Yar I have one and haven’t reloaded for it yet but it loves Federal blue box 123 grain sp ammo. Typically keeps three shots around 1/2” - I have a Zastava mini-Mauser that loves this ammo too! The CZ is handy to still hunt with and I’ve killed a couple of bucks and a turkey with it in PA. I think you’ll really like it!

Love this little gun.
I wish I would have bought 2.
Mine shoots silver bears at moa. Instead of the cz rings, you can use original tikka T3 oem rings to lower your scope.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Mine shoots all the steel cased budget ammo to the same POI a 100 yards. I won’t be reloading this one.

Thanks for the info. Still hunts is exactly what I Intend to use it for. Perfect little rifle for the task it seems. I came with high scope rings and I changed them out for Med height rings to give me a better cheek weld. The chambering seems perfectly suited to short to medium range shots . I don’t buy many rifles these days in fact I sell most now that I have accumulated over the years but this little carbine has interested me for some time now. Unfortunately CZ discontinued the line before I got around to buying one. Fortunately found this one .

Seems guys are mounting large scopes to these hence the high rings . Seem to me this defeats the compact carbine purpose . ( to each their own ) I went with med height rings but probably could have gone lower with the compact scope I’m using.

Got a pair of 527’s from my dads estate. 1 is a factory 6.5 grendel that shoots pretty damn well with factory ammo and better with handloads. The other is a .223 model that was Rebarreled by pacnor in 25x45 and it shoots amazing.

Hornady 123gr SST. Grandson has taken three bucks with that from his Howa.

IIRC, they used to promote those as especially suitable for shooting steel-case/milsurp ammo. Not as much of that available cheaply any more, but still plenty of choices, for targets and practice of course.

That’s a good score. They’ve been discontinued unfortunately, so prices will continue to rise I expect.

My cz527 is a .223/5.56 and it is awesome. I have a Ruger ranch rifle in 7.62x39 and is both accurate and feeds all ammo well.

Yeah , seem to me I remember them around 598.00 or something like that. The prices are definitely on the way up . The old line of CZ’s were real world craftsmanship for sure . The new models are nice but seems their made of a more modern process and seemed to not have that old school build. I’m not knocking the new ones I’m sure their great .

I was okay with the change to the new model, until they decided the average gun monkey couldn’t manage the cartridge-swap feature and discontinued it. That leaves them with a funny-looking oddball IMO. Apparently in Yurrup it’s possible to send one in for a factory swap, but so far that’s not being discussed here.

I’m sure other factors are involved in the change; maybe worn-out machinery, a desire to go CNC for everything, or something else. They’ve also discontinued other items like the Kadet 2 .22 conversion for the 75-series pistols. I have one of those and it’s a fine mechanism. Fortunately, I also picked up some spare mags while the gettin’ was good. We all know what an expensive PITA is can be to find obsolete magazines.

I recently acquired a custom CZ-527 Carbine that started life as a 7.62x39. But Jim Brockman rebarreled it to 6.5 Grendel for Bill Alexander back in 2002 when the Grendel was a brand-new cartridge. They gave it a real eye-popping custom painted stock and took the rifle to the SHOT and Safari Club shows to help drum up interest in the Grendel.
I love it - the action is very nice as has been said, I love the set trigger, and it's very accurate. I was lucky to find what I think was the second-to-last factory CZ carbine stock sold in the US and bedded that to it to preserve the original custom stock.

Somebody on this thread may be interested in this - I have almost 200 once-fired Norma 7.62x39 cases that are deprimed and polished. I have hesitated to list them for sale because I really wanted to see brass of this quality go to someone with a nice mini bolt action instead of being destined for an AK. I shouldn't care who buys them, but like my avatar says...

Shoot me a PM if interested.

Congratulations on your new rifle yar.

Rex

About a year after they came out with that chambering, a guy was carrying one around a gun show, trying to sell it. Said it kicked too hard.

Or maybe it’s because the bolt lift is kinda high. I think they addressed that somewhat in later models, and Calhoon sells (or sold) replacements that had been modified.

Great rifles.

I have a CZ 527 American chambered in 6.5 Grendel. I wish that I had gotten a second chambered in 300 B/O with the synthetic stock and threaded barrel.

My stepson killed his first deer with that bullet from my… probably eventually his CZ 527. It performed absolutely perfect at Grendel velocity. Low chest shot at about 25 yards that exited through the leg bone just below where it connects to the chest.
