Got my notice on Sat. Didn't keep up with inflation, but at least it's a few more bucks every month.

More than half the population does not save and invest, so we have to have socialized pension and socialized medicine.

The allegory of the ant and grasshopper is not now politically correct.

Jbmi: LONG.... ago I realized "SS" was not going to cut it for me and my intended lifestyle after retirement!
I made other plans - and my other plans are doing EXTREMELY well!
This upcoming "SS raise" doesn't mean squat to me.
My advice to those wanting a pleasing and comfortable "retirement" - make other plans than "SS".

Being better off than 50% of the country, isn't really hard to be, in today's world...

that is if you don't count the ones that are collecting 5 to 10 welfare checks per week, under that many different aliases...

or those that are doing that, while also being farmers and distributors in the Recreational Pharmaceutical Industry also...

and then having the wife and oldest daughters, down in front of Walmart with signs that say "Stranded, please help for gas money"
while hooking on the side...

while having their oldest son's out stealing cars and selling car parts on the side...

The pic is worth lots of discussion much of which has been held here at The Campfire.

We could start it off by saying that the grasshopper no longer has to be concerned for his immediate welfare nor worry and that we ants are obligated to care for the grasshopper by edict.

Put another way, the pic though not politically correct, no longer applies to our socialistic society.

I don't believe ss was ever designed to provide a complete retirement for anybody. The government mandated it and you know they are your benefits if you paid in. It's the politicians who have stolen funds for pork project funding and democrats who keep giving away ss funds to illegals and those who never paid in to buy votes is the problem. Mb

To many here don’t remember Al Gore’s SS lock box. Or all the IOU’s the Democrats put in the SS trust to fund the Grest Society. Remember you put in 7 1/2 percent as did your employer. Would be a nice piece of change if the politicians hadn’t slolen it. Forgot to mention the interest it would have made. Hasbeen

Yes

So you are on welfare and have never paid into the system? In your case yes then it is an entitlement and not your money coming back to you.

You don't understand what the word "entitlement" means, probably willfully because you don't want to admit you are part of the entitlement class.

You also don't understand how a pyramid scheme works. Your money was spent a long time ago.
