If so, why not refine it in Venezuela and ship the refined product to the U.S. refineries on the Gulf of Mexico for further processing?
I doubt that the Venezuelan crude can be any dirtier than the Canadian shale oil crude.
You are correct. It's a lot cleaner, a nice light sweet crude, much better than the Saudi crap, and being so close to our Texas refineries, we are the natural market for that oil.

I’d guess that it’s something along the lines of Might is Right whether it be economically or militarily.
Or we could just ignore everything that’s going on around the world.
