Last winter I picked up an XP-100 in .350 Rem Mag from tclubber here at the 'fire. This is for hunting whitetails in Iowa during the late muzzleloader season now that Iowa permits bottleneck cartridges in calibers .350"-.500" generating 500 ft/lbs of energy. I've been using a .357 Maximum in TC Encore for many years and last year my oldest daughter claimed that gun and told me to find another one. I finally got around to some load development and I'm very pleased with this XBR 8208 load of 57 gr. pushing 180 gr. Speer bullets. Velocity from the 16" barrel is 2400 fps and the recoil isn't anywhere near what I expected. I'll be hunting whitetails with it after Christmas. smile. I had an XP in 7BR for several years a couple of decades ago and I loved it, but had to sell it to buy other things. I'm not regretting this purchase at all. This one is topped with a Burris Handgun 2-7x32 with lighted reticle.
After sighting in I moved to demolishing pumpkins from 137 to 250 yards off the rest without missing a single one. Very pleased.

Told this before, but I’m gonna tell it again….

Years ago my son worked in the gun department at the local Gander Mountain store. One of his jobs was to test-fire used guns that came in before they went on the rack. They had a big snail device for that. One he tested was a .350, maybe one of the 673s that came out about then. When he touched that puppy off, everyone in the store thought the world was coming to an end.

Not long after, Gander was acquired by a new owner and among the things that changed was all used guns were sent off to their main gunsmithing facility to be checked.

An XP-100 .350 just sounds like a bad idea, but you seem to be enjoying it. Good for you, and good luck.

It’s surprisingly not unpleasant to shoot. Now, granted, it weighs more than a 673 as is because of the barrel, but the recoil isn’t straight back. The best comparison I have is heavy loads in a single action revolver that roll up in the hand rather than back. Far less felt recoil than a 12” .454 Casull barrel I had for my Encore for a few years.

I remember an article by the late, great Bob Milek where he used one of those on a moose. He spoke very highly of it.

I own 2 XP100r. A 22-250 and a 260Rem. Shooting either of those from a bench without a rigid grip will put the muzzle into my face. The 22-250 was so violent I had it magnaported to eliminate the muzzle flip. A 7 pound 350 must be awesome; more than a 8# 30-06 ?

I’ve got a 16.25” .260 Rem barrel for my Encore. No monster muzzle flip with that. I had a 10” .22 BR barrel at one time. Uff da. Great balls of fire with the muzzle flip. 🤣
