Our neighbor has cattle on his 80 (an 80 we could have bought in the 90's for 26k all in but dad was getting divorced and I was in my teens) - and he's always looking to expand. We were sitting around this deer season with him talking about another mutual neighbor (our land meets like 4 corners) and how his "survey" is well off by 60 feet and we need to get it done properly. My father comments that it needs to be done sooner as the landowner (me and my brother) need to know before it gets messy. Neighbor goes "you should just sell it all to me" and I said "Gary, over my dead body. People get this land after they pull me out of a pile of brass and blood. That's nothing against you but you're German/Belgian/Farmer like us - you get being attached to a piece of dirt"

Dang, Nate's got whiskers! I remember when he was but a young lad. Congrats on a huge buck Nate! And T zone gets a fine buck in the thick stuff - Well done!

Last day of rifle here in Michigan. Weird year.

I got a 6-7pt on the opener at 4:30 in the afternoon. Public land, ladderstand, 35yds, using my dad's Model 100 Win 308. Shooting Interlocks too T-zone. Took out the top of the heart and part of the lung. Dropped right there. Some sharp broken ribs on the inside. I'm guessing 2 1/2 yr old, small rack, but longer snout. 6-7 because a sticker brow is 7/8thish long and much smart talkin' was done opening evening after certain libations of what a point is.

I have the same rifle as dad's, but wanted to use his as a nostalgia thing - it's been 3 years since he's passed and 8 years since that gun has been in the woods. I remember when he got the rifle, we were living in Escanaba around '68 and I was only 5 or so. I also remember him having Marbles put a recoil pad on - I thought it was for recoil - turns out I forgot he had orangutang arms so the length of pull is a bit long - like 14.5". She performed flawlessly and I'll have a pad put on to fit humans later. I'll send mine down the road soon.

I say it's a weird year because of the lack of hunters seen, shots heard, camps in the woods, trailers headed north for the opener or last Sunday, south. We have to travel 25 minutes to get to our spots including 5 minutes on blacktop, then gravel, and finally two tracks. We did not see one vehicle going in or out the first 3 days. Then a damn blizzard hit and dumped a bunch of snow. Nothing moved, we went home for the holiday week and headed back up T-giving afternoon. Never saw a hair that whole extended weekend - or a hunter. Strange. Mine was the only deer in camp. Never saw another deer hanging at the cabins around ours either. Weird year.

Man. A lot has happened on this thread since I last checked in. Congrats on the bucks, guys!

I took the day off of work and shot an 8 pt. on Nov. 10th out of my portable box blind that I built 3 years? ago.

I was swallowed up with turkeys and small spikes, forks, 6 pt. baskets and little does/fawns.

Nice to see some tasty venison hit the ground for Chickenbuckers! Some nice bucks too! My daughter has been out muzzleloader hunting and has seen a really nice buck. Once too far to the north, once too far to the south. So the spot is good, just need a whisker closer!

I went pheasant hunting in ND instead of deer hunting. It was cold. and windy. Real cold and real windy!

Anyone else get hammered by snow this past week? We just got dug out from the 3 day blizzard, not fun at all.
Lost two calves as well, hoping the rest of them have no issues before Wednesday, they are going down the road.

It's been snowing here for 6 days. we still only have about 6" because it rained for a day too. It just snows enough to clear it, making it a pain in the ass. lol

The good news is, it's cold.
