Camp went in about mid-Sept and was torn down on Nov 20. Anything that walks, crawls, flies, swims, or digs in the earth is fair game with the exception of people. Deer are Cookie's primary target, so things will be heavily weighted to that end.

Will build this progressively, about 8 pics to the post, as I think there's a limit to the number of images allowed in a single entry. Should add up to about 65 pics when done.

Longarm: Your wish is...........

We found last year's black (melanistic) doe, and she was accompanied by a typically colored fawn. As a fawn, two seasons ago, her sibling was a buck with a solid black tail. He was a fork horn last year, but not seen this fall. We made sightings of Blackie about every 3rd day or so, but it was about a weekly deal to get within cameral range. In 2021 we also had a melanistic fawn born to a typically colored doe in the area. There were reports of sightings in May, but it was not found this season.

This was Blackies boyfriend for about a 4-day interval. Had a tough time getting them both into a single frame.

Our nightly campground visitors usually running around in a group of three. About every other evening, one would see a nose or two poking around the wall tent skirt, but they always waited until lights were out and the tent vacant. They spend a lot of time in the wall tent but don't toss the place like racoons do. These are flashlight images, not the best as to color and depth, but then there's not a lot of color on a skunk. A few nights later, the campground host let his dog out for his 10 o'clock do. You guessed it.

Seemed to be a good year for coyotes. We found 5 deer-kill sites across the weeks. At least 4 were due to cats as the carcasses were covered with vegetation. Magpies, ravens, crows, and persistent coyotes were responsible for the discoveries.

Below is heavily cropped as the pic was snapped from about 150 yards. There were 4 dogs in this group that were mousing in a rake-bunch hayfield. Mom looks to be passing out some discipline to one of the children with a not so gentle nip to the nose.

Not nest building season, but this guy spent a lot time handling twigs.

Next three shots are of our campground buck. About every other morning he would be bedded close to camp and would wander over for an apple handout. He moved out for some more attractive does about mid-season though

The below is one of the few instances that I got to handle a camera. The safety was not on, I fell down, and it went off.

The mink in the next two shots was a fishing fool. For about a 20-minute session he would swim down about 10 yds, catch a fish, and return to the same spot to choke them down. Ten or 15 seconds of fishing time were all that was needed for each pass.

A different mink that Cookie followed upstream for about half an hour.

Took a brief break for run to Portland to visit young son. Weather was breaking as we were passing though the Warm Springs Reservation on our return. Mt Jefferson.

With an exceptionally dry summer our quail and pheasants did well.

This buck moved about 3 miles from this location to subsequently become Blackie's suitor pictured above.

Questionable health for the buck below. He was scaling a hill to the east of camp one AM, stopped, began shaking and stumbling, and then fell rolling about 10 yds down the slope. One of Cookie's buddies saw things coming together and went into video mode for the incident. Seemed healthy though late that afternoon and was still hustling does about 10-days later when we left. Will try to get a link to the video.

Edited: Found the link, but the guy wants some cash for a download. Not going there. Stumbling buck video

That's it. A sampling of thousands. Thank God we are past the film age. Still, however, she cost me a fortune in diesel.

Have a good one.
