Hopefully reasonably priced. I need it for the Hagerman public hog hunt as they want us to use "non toxic" projectiles. This is for my grandson so preference is in this order, Tell me what you have. I have a few usable shotguns.

870 Remington 20 gauge
Mossberg 20 gauge this is a 500 can use a M88 barrel also
870 Remington 12 gauge
Winchester 12 gauge this is a 1200, 1300 and 120 barrels will fit it. I can also use a 1400 barrel
Mossberg 12 gauge this is an 88 can use a 500 barrel on it.

I would double check the interchangeability of 870 and 1100 barrels before buying one

The lion and tiger might be stronger, but the wolf does not perform in the circus.

Sound advice.

As for the 870 20ga, standard weight or LW?

Rifled barrels for a standard weight 870 20 gauge are a bit rarer than hen teeth. Don’t believe Remington ever made them. Hastings maybe. Good luck in your search.

By standard I mean the average every day Express or Wingmaster. Should be a few around.

I believe all the express are the lite weight frame. The wingmasters are a mix. Pull the barrel you have off the gun and check if a quarter will fit thru the area that goes around the magazine. If it fits standard weight if not lite weight. Good luck

Standard to me means the 870 20 gauges built on 12 gauge frames. If the SN ends in an X or a N it is a 12 gauge receiver.

Wow learn something every day. This is a youth express and is a light gun for sure. I just assumed the standard was what the Express got.

I have a 12 gauge 870 and this guns frame is much smaller. I didn't know that at one time they put 20 gauge barrels on 12 gauge frames, kind of crazy I think.

The lite frames are easier to find barrels for. Remington and Hastings both made them.

I have a Mossberg brand 12ga rifled, open Sight barrel that fits a Rem 870 I'd be willing to part with.

They're nowhere near close to being the same.
