False dichotomy much? When was the last time you saw a bunch of depleted uranium rods spinning around on the ridgline. Riddle me this while you are at it. How many megawatts per acre for a nuke vs a windmill?

"I long thought that interfering with surface level air flows has an impact on weather patterns."

When I worked with weather, most of the forecasters based a lot of their forecasts on the 500 millibar maps, especially for the two to three day outlook. I'm not sure the low level winds affect weather patterns except possibly on a very small basis. One of the reasons we flew balloons was to get that pressure data along with the winds aloft. BTW, IIRC the 500 MB level is usually between 40,000 to 45,000 feet MSL. I've been retired from that work since 1998. It's been a while.

Township purpose to put several windmills about 1/4 mile from me on land several hundred acres that was donated to the township many years ago by a resident ....it got shut down....I found in the donation paper work "no structure can be put on the propriety" hunting blinds can be but must have the name and address of the owner and can only be from September 1-January 1 with a permit....

In 1982 I connected an Anemometer to a Pet Computer and prospected for a wind power site.
My wife wrote the software.
I bought a prop with a 15:1 wind/tip speed ratio.
The guy who sold me the anemometer went on to be the project engineer at the Altamont wind farm in CA.

I came to the conclusion that wind power was not viable.
The wind has two big problems:
1) the wind can blow not hard enough
2) the wind can blow too hard

The energy available from wind is proportional to the wind speed cubed.
That shrinks too fast with low wind speed.
That blows up too fast with high wind speed. [machine must be shut down in high wind]

Those kinda scare me.

Apparently they raise the air temp around them quite a bit. Like to untenable levels.

You can graze sheep and goats around them....but not cattle.

There are no restrictions on wind towers.

Someone bought hundreds of acres once used for sugarcane farming not far from home. It is now all solar panels disgusting what they have done to this land.

I’m not against any of this alternative stuff, but it needs to be subject to the same scrutiny of its impact on the land, critters, and people as anything else, including the recycling/disposal end game when it needs to be retired or replaced.

I’m absolutely against them using my taxes to prop up schitt that can’t compete with clean fossil sources, or mandates that jack up rates just to appease the faithful. Just look across the ocean and see what those goofy bastards are doing to their people and economies. Shameful.

All the windchargers around here are shut down, we've had 40mph sustained wind and 60+ gusts for the last few days. Green ain't so great unless conditions are perfect. I say we need Nuke and Coal plants and plenty of them. We have plenty of uranium and coal right here. Let's take advantage of it.
