In Knoxville some time ago, woman on the phone said "tern leeft at the second lot".

I'm writing these directions down, wanted to go to a gun shop. Turns out she said light, as in traffic light.

I accidentally call Joe Biden the "Potato in chief" sometimes when I actually mean "that crooked, lying, piece of dung in the White House".

Reminds me: Dad always said worsh, as in "Worsh your hands."
And he pronounced Lapua "Lapway." His car was a Toyota Camray.
His favorite powder was Varg-ette.

Milk

Don't know how I say, can't distinguish how the family says it.

3 women agree I say it "funny".

It is kinda sad, TV and radio have destroyed regional speech. That basic
Indiana/Arizona speech has set the pattern for how we should all talk.
Seldom hear common old terms or ways of speaking that I grew up with.
Don't use them often myself.

Traveling I soon noticed southern accents aren't really much of a thing anymore. Its more rural vs city. Downtown any big city, you might think you are in Indianapolis, drive 70 miles and suddenly you know you ain't in Hoosierland anymore.

I still can't figure out how you're supposed to pronounce Kuiu?

The chances they come, and the chances they go.
But the time. You don't get that back.
