How silly would it be to put a rimfire scope on a 300 bo. I just picked up a ruger ranch and have a nikon p22 2-7 tactical sitting on top of safe. With drops similiar to a 22lr when shooting subs, it seems to me it may be a neat little combo. This one has the mk1 moa reticle, I put it in the nikon spoton app to get an idea of what the hashes they would be out to 200 yards or so. I'm about 10 months in on my suppressor wait, hopefully wont be too much longer.
Anyone done it?

The only difference is .22 scopes usually have parallax set at 50 yds.

Seems like a good setup to me. I had to google the reticle to check it out. I don't see any issues, it'a 2 moa per hash mark, not caliber specific. Being second focal plane, you could even dial power to 3.5X and have 4 moa per hash mark if you need to.

Rimfire built for that recoil and the double recoil of an AR platform tends to be hard on scopes at times.. FWIW.
Just put a SWFA with knobs on our 300 bolt gun to be able to dial exactly where I want for every 25 yards of distance for subs.

I forgot to mention its a ruger ranch american, it would definitely be 100 yards and in with the subs.
I need to try out a swfa at some point. They dont have a fixed 4 do they?

I have the P-300 Nikon on my RAR Blackout rifle and hate it. I had to tape both the elevation and windage turrets to keep them from adjusting. They just spin too easily for my tastes.

Posted this pic somewhere else recently, SAFA 1-4x on mine. Have a spare 3-9x that might wind up on it though. I’ve had bad luck with the illumination on 2 different 1-4x’s and this one needs sent back now.

Never understood the need for illumination. But my eyes are still somewhat young I suppose.
I prefer to have extremely dim illumination if I'm forced to have it on for whatever reason.
Have a Zeiss that I removed the battery from it. I see it so much better without illumination.
That said its always a personal thing.

Finally got can in and threw a nikon 3-9 buckmaster I had laying around on the rifle, decided to go with a thicker crosshair for hunting purposes.
A lot of fun, not as quiet as I had hoped, but pretty dang quiet. The supersonic 150gr deer loads about like a strong 22lr, I was expecting that. The 220 sig subsonics were the quietest, about like a 22 quiet if that, the bullet hitting target was loudest thing you heard. I think those were running 1000fps. Tried some 200 subs as well. Pretty consistent hits, got the 220s dead on at 50, the 200s are at 75 and the 150s are dead on about 100-110.
I saw where winchester is coming out with powerpoints in the 200gr subs.
Found a good hog spot and a feeder loaded up, ready to try it out.

How silly would it be to put a rimfire scope on a 300 bo. Anyone done it? The only difference is .22 scopes usually have parallax set at 50 yds. Most centerfire scopes have the parallax set for 150 yards. Not a big deal, just do it, play around with it and see how it Suits you. How far do you plan on shooting? 300 BO sub's seem to start dropping significantly after about 125 yards. Never understood the need for illumination. But my eyes are still somewhat young I suppose. That said its always a personal thing. Dusky or dark woods I prefer illumination. I feel it also depends on the reticle, I've had some illuminated reticles that I too really didn't care for. YMMV, Jerry
