Has anyone tried them or have knowledge of them?

Mostly I'm curious if this is just a thicker cupped WSR or a Magnum thicker cupped primer like a CCI 41.

Winchester hasn't made a Small Rifle Primer in a Magnum form to the best of my knowledge. I believe the standard WSR Primer is not as hot as a Magnum Primer, but a bit hotter than most standard Small Rifle Primers of other manufacturers.

I've got a 1000 and these would be for a .223 Rem.

With Winchester currently managing the Lake City facility, I suspect these are overruns or excess capacity from military production. I load them the same as the CCI 41 and haven't seen a significant difference.

I've seen these for sale around here and a black and red box
around here most places had them at 90 a thousand. I just sure hope they ate both face pictures like the blue box bullshit they put out a few years ago...

Similar to CCI 41? That's something to look for.

BTW, they come in what I'd describe as a "generic" looking container.

I’ve not come across the Win 41s but the CCI 41 is the same as the 450 with a bit more clearance between the primer cup and anvil. This is done to reduce the chances of a slam fire in an AR. The BR4 primer is the same as the 450 with tighter QC. Use CCI450 load data with all of them. The CCI 400 has a thinner primer cup. 0.020” vs 0.025” I don’t like to use that one with higher pressure loads. Just picked up 2500 41’s today for $73 per 1k. Still pretty high but I’m starting to run low. They had the 450s priced at $53 but were out. Not surprised at that price. They even had Rem 7-1/2s for $89. Prices around here are finally starting to drop.

Prices will continue to come down, as the shelves fill up. It will still take some time though. A couple months ago, I saw the Remington 7.5's at $75/1000 (brick), CCI450's for $85, BR4's for $135!!!! Small rifle primers have been pretty easy to find, but you have to decide if you want to pay their prices now, or wait till they are cheaper in 6 months or a year from now. Reading reviews on the Winchester 41's, I'd hold out for CCI450's or the like.


They had about 70,000 of those ^^^^ last time I was at Scheels. Another place I visit, has them for $85/brick.

Dang, I'm drooling looking at that stack of primers. BSA, you're in Nevada? It'd almost be worth a drive up there to buy some. Here in this anti-gun State the primers are as scarce as hen's teeth.

The great thing about Scheels is they will price match items in stock at their competitors.

I just loaded some 55vmax 223 with these primers. Shot right there with my CCI and Win Br primers.

For sure. I was just over there about 4 days ago and they had a pile of Remington 7 1/2 benchrest primers. They were the same price as the CCI450's shown above. $89.99/brick. They also had some CCI41's in stock. That was the Reno Scheels.
