They lost one game this year. They beat every other team they played by double digits. Many of those teams, good ones.

They beat an overrated ND and a bunch of .500 teams, and lost to the first legit contender they faced. My point is that they can't win the big games. The committee will put them in the playoff and they will be summarily ejected in the first round.

The 12 team playoff is ridiculous. What team that would fall into the bottom 6 of the top 12 could beat UGA or Michigan?

Any of them on any given day. The "best" team doesn't always win the game.

Thank you for making my point. Let's bring 3X the number of teams into the playoffs to give them a chance at their "any given day."

The top 12 would be playing almost an NFL schedule. Only teams that are very deep in talent will win it because of attrition caused by a brutal schedule. You might as well stay at 4 or possibly go to 8.

The good news: The Buckeyes may be in the playoffs.

The bad news: They will have to play Georgia.

Georgia annihilated LSU yesterday to win the SEC. Georgia is unstoppable.

My guess:

1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. TCU
4. Ohio State

Note: 3 and 4 are easily reversible especially when Michigan and Ohio State just played each other.

Championship game:

Georgia vs Michigan

Georgia looks good , but unstoppable? Two turnovers and a key penalty can humble any team.

Flipping that around, wouldn't your scenario also help some kids get their shot? I know it's not the same, but most of us might not know Tom Brady's name if Bledsoe never got hurt. Back to your point, it also changes the dynamics of recruiting a bit.

I'd rather shorten the regular season and have more meaningful playoff games if that is what it takes. Who really cares about seeing Alabama beat the piss out of Northeastern Bumblefugg U, other than the bean counters at Northeastern Bumblefugg U? Just spread the bigger pie of an expanded playoff picture around to the smaller schools so no one loses out.

No one is unstoppable. Georgia very well might be the best team in the country and cruise to a championship, but it's crazy to think they can't be beaten or beat themselves on any given week.

NIL and the transfer portal have changed Football for the bad I fear. Teams like GA,AL,LSU and A&M paid their players well before NIL. You think kids are going to GA because they love the team? No with NIL there are college QB's making 7 figures and some coaches brag about it Mario Cristobal,Saban and Jimbo Fisher . That guarantees those teams will have deep rosters stocked with talent paid for in the Portal or thru NIL and recruiting. Teams with the most resources will have the most stocked teams. The other 8 will be at a disadvantage because of the depth the top 4 will have. There are only so many blue chips to go around unfortunately.

They may want 12 to be inclusive but really 4 of the teams will really matter.

It appeared that TCU had a touchdown in OT.

Ohio State got spanked by Michigan.

I don’t imagine either would win the championship.

I agree with your sentiments on NIL and the transfer portal in general, but there are a lot of schools with deep enough pockets to play the NIL game. Some (like A&M) just figured it out more quickly than others.

You think Cam Newton went to Auburn because he liked the uniforms?

No, it was because he was a theif and got kicked out of Florida (weird because he kinda fit in). I'm sure Auburn payed up.

I am a tcu fan, but I honestly think anyone that doesn't win their conferences should not play for a national championship. I think the bracket should consist of conference champions.. Win your conference and go to the playoff.

But then again I can't figure out why a conference would setup their schedule to have two teams meet up for a second time in the conference championship unless the first meeting was a tie.

TCU DID Have a TD in OT. Unfortunately, they had to play K-State and the Refs.
Seriously doubt they’ll get by the Wolverines though.
But Stranger things have happened. 🤪

I’m just shocked at the Playoff Committee didn’t sneak the always overrated ND in the finals along with the Suckeyes. 😜
