A few years ago my wife and I took a trip to Chicago. She had lived there for a few years and said we had to stop at the Spice House. I thought what's so great about a spice store? Well she had to drag me out of there an hour later. That place is fantastic! Recently placed an order and one of the items I got was this Italian Steak Seasoning. Absolutely the best on steaks.

Salt
Pepper
Garlic
Juniper Berries
Rosemary
Scallions

A good simple doesn't need any seasoning except for a little salt and pepper. A seasoning is supposed to taste like seasoning; it doesn't need fancy-assed rubs, seasonings, or sauces. (At least that is what I have learned from the 'fire's expert conizers every time the subject arises.)

Never bought SPG.

Use a shaker of salt, pepper, and garlic.

I like Cavender's, it's just that some may need to be aware of it before diving in.

My go to seasoning on pork chicken and beef is Head Country All Purpose, it's made in Oklahoma, got hooked on it when I lived there, now I have it shipped to me. It's not overpowering, has mostly common ingredients I suspect. I buy it in these 7 pound tubs, that way I have plenty to give away too.

Salt Free Cavender's doesn't have the MSG, but I don't know if that blend tastes anything like the regular. I just bought the salt free stuff after reading about here.

I don't disagree completely, as I have gone more towards simple seasonings (salt and pepper) lately. However, a bit of corn starch or even flour can create an incredible crust on a steak. I haven't found any spices or salt that can create that crust.
