We know from the Bible that the Romans used to crucify thieves. In Victorian England they would hang them. The towelheads chop their hands off. I'm noticing a pattern here. Maybe we are doing something, actually a lot of things wrong.

When I was a kid, my Mom would literally leave the keys in the station wagon in the driveway and our front door unlocked. Yeah, 20+ years, still do it here. I’m in an ultra low crime location, plus our German Shepard is wary of strangers. I lock up when parked out, also like eyes on the vehicle as much as possible, restaurant, whatever. Certain areas your spidy senses tell you to increase the precautions. We often think of what can happen at midnight in the bad part of town. We now have to increase vigilance midday in the better part of town. Yes, may be clues with working parking lot cameras, but you end up against ‘the system’. That system is location & policies supported by local politics. Some things won’t change, at least not enough to matter for those involved.

You really need to get out of California ! Even if they catch the thieves they won’t face any real time. Civilization is collapsing in California. There’s much better places to live. Crime and taxes are ridiculous in California. Regulation makes the cost of living way higher than it should be. Hate the loss of the truck but more so the violation of your sense of safety. That's good advice, move far away from California much better states to live in.

Sorry to hear about that Rick. Losing your Dog was bad enough . I have had a vehicle broken into in FL, they gouged me deeply with that one and it was my own fault.

We had a rash of thefts on trucks during wheat harvest. It's not easy to hide a trapwagon when there's only one road every mile. It was a family from moses that got two of one farmers rigs. He was caught by locals and "held" for the sheriff. He wont be back. Another was a hitchhiker who opportunisticly stole another truck. He was caught the next day 40 miles away....same county.
Hope you have similar luck.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.
