What newer powder would you recommend for 300 win mag and 7mm mag.

I have limited R22 and H4831SC. I am trying to find a more readily available powder for both magnums. Ive heard good things about Ramshot Magnum but never used it.

In the 300 win mag, im planning on using a Barnes 175 LRX.

In the 7mm mag I will use either a 145 LRX or 162 ELDX.

Thanks.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Shortly after RL 22 and H 1000 came out I remember reading an article in a gun magazine that the two powders for the 7 mm Remington Magnum had arrived.....RL 22 for 140 gr. and H 1000 for 160 gr.

The guy wasn't lying.

Retumbo with Fed 215's with the 160's-162 for accuracy node at 3100. One rifle with a tight bore loves 68.5g

I have used R#22 with both of these weight bullets with cci 250 primers with amazing accuracy and speed. Also have seen LARGE differences in lot# and some pretty good swings in velocity from 80* to 30*.

IMR 7828 was invented for the 7 Rem mag, and it is very close to R#22 in burning rate.

R#22 with the 180g ELD-M at 2850 fps really impresses in the 7 RM.
R#22 with the 120g Barnes TTSX, 72-73g with a cci 250 primer, seated .050 off the lands shoots a bug hole in several rifles, start at 68g and work up in your rifle.
R#22 with 162g ELD-X, cci 250, Max of 65g, shoots tiny groups, seat .003 close to the lands
R#22 with 140g TTSX, 250 primer, 68g max, 3250 fps, amazing tiny groups, seat .050 off the lands

H4350 with 140g Ballistic tips, accubonds bullets kissing the lands, 65-66g with Rem 9 1/2 primer, tiny groups in Rem brass, It is a rare rifle that does not like this load! IMR 4350 will be within .5g of the H
H4350 with 160g, up to 61g and that is a warm load in many guns.

All the powders mentioned.

I’ve had good luck with H4831sc, H1000, RE26, Magnum, RE25 & RE22. on different cartridges

I’ve never seen RE26 on a burn chart. But it seems to be close to RE22, at least in the cartridges I’ve tried it in.

Below is from my tests on two 700's:

For some reason I didn't note the primer on the 7mm RM, but I think it probably was 9 1/2 M

7 mm RM Remington, 700 BDL, 140 grain Nosler PT, 72 Grains RE 26, 0.38 MOA (average 3 ea 5 shot groups)
7 mm RM Remington, 700 BDL, 150 grain Nosler PT, 70 Grains RE 26, 0.66 MOA (average 3 ea. 5 shot groups)
7 mm RM Remington, 700 BDL, 139 grain Hornady IL, 72 Grains RE 25, 3 shot group, 0.73 MOA
7 mm RM Remington, 700 BDL, 140 grain Nosler PT, 72 Grains RE 25, 3 shot group, 0.73 MOA
7 mm RM Remington, 700 BDL, 150 grain CT, 68.5 Grains, RE 26, 3 shot group, 0.82 MOA

300 Win Mag Remington 700, 220 Grain Nosler Partition, 9 1/2M, 71 Grains H4831, 0.41 MOA 5 shot group
300 Win Mag Remington 700, 180 Grain Remington SPCL, 9 ½ M, 72 Grains H4831sc, 0.57 MOA (average 3 ea. 5 shot groups)
300 Win Mag Remington 700, 220 Grain Nosler Partition, 9 ½ M, 74.1 Grains RE26, 0.66 MOA (average 3 ea. 5 shot groups)
300 Win Mag Remington 700, 180 Grain Sierra, 9 ½ M, 76 Grains H4831sc, 0.80 MOA 5 shot group
300 Win Mag Remington 700, 180 Grain Hornady SPBT, WLRM, 73 Grains IMR4350 0.88, MOA 5 shot group
300 Win Mag Remington 700, 180 Grain Nosler Partition, 9 1/2M, 79.9 Grains H1000, 1.0 MOA 5 shot group
300 Win Mag Remington 700, 180 Grain Hornady IL, 9 1/2M, 79 Grains H1000, 1.03 MOA, 3 shot group,
300 Win Mag Remington 700, 180 Grain Nosler Partition, WLRM, 80 Grains H1000, 1.03 MOA 3 shot group
300 Win Mag Remington 700, 220 Grain Nosler Partition, 9 ½ M, 72 Grains H4831sc, 1.06 MOA, 5 shot group
300 Win Mag Remington 700, 180 Grain Sierra, WLRM, 75 Grains MR3100, 1.18 MOA, 5 shot group

it looks like RE26 is the top powder for accuracy in these two rifles, also H4831/H4831sc.

I prefer classic.
