Don't see these often. Late 1920 probably, possibly early 1921 - serial 230,611. Double stamped, as well. Receiver ring and barrel.

Now I have to go check all of mine! Guess I can spare 1 minute.

They did SAP for just a short time in this timeframe, then switched to the SP stamp.

I don't show the SA proof till around the 29xxxx range. SA then SAP then back to SA. I would guess back to the factory for a barrel but who knows. Thanks Keith. Alway gets more interesting when you find more than one. The barrel address doesn't help much. The only photo that will not in-large for me on the OZ sight is the one showing the proof stamp!

Rick.. do you mean 229,xxx? Or 29x,xxx?
29x,xxx would be 1927. Or am I off by 7 years.. thought they started the proof stamping in late 1920.
Apparently I'm off.

29xxxx but I'm real hit and miss on data. Might be worth collecting more.
I just noticed that one of the T mount photos in the "99 RS" posting appears to be double stamped.

It is the proof stamp photo that won't blow up for me.
The barrel stamp would have been original to the rifle and might have been still around for a rebarrel.
Probable just an option by the guy with the hammer and stamp.

Well, my theory that the "P" in the ledgers means the barrel or rifle was proofed at the factory, and they stopped recording the "P" when they started proof stamping the barrels depends on proof stamps being in the 229,xxx range. They stopped recording the "P" in the ledgers something around late 1920 to 1922.
But I see a number of early 20's guns without stamps. Dang. Another theory shot down, unless we find more SP stamps.

If my data is in the ballpark it would be sometime in 1927. Lots of changes stared then.

Quick searching...
216898 - 250-3000 - No proof stamp 224677 - ?? - "" 240653 - 99G 250 - "" 241571 - 99G 250 - "" 242421 - 99D 300 - "" 242802 - 99G cased - "" 247666 - 99G 300 - "" 250262 - 99F 22HP - "" 25341x - 99G 250 - "" 2619xx - 99G 303 - "" 268702 - 99H 303 - "" 283,5xx - 99G 30-30 - "" 284,639 - 99F 250 - "" 285,00x - 99G cased - "" 287314 - 99H 303 - "" 293222 - 99G 300 - SP 294024 - 99G 30-30 - SP 296464 - 99G 300 - SP 296945 - 99H 30-30 - SP 297519 - 99F 30-30 - SP 298619 - 99G 300 - SP
So looks like we need some more rifles from around 229,xxx to 232,xxx to check for more SAP's. And more in the 287,xxx to 292,xxx range.

It's my SR that's in a case. Already put it away. Don't you have a similar one in that serial number range also?

For all of the above that say "No proof stamp", I did not or could not look at the bottom of the barrel.

I checked 16 rifles between 199xxx and 298xxx. The last was the only one with an SP stamp.
My 99-D is 234xxx... no stamp.
I don't have any in the 293xxx to 297xxx range with the stamp to look at. Need help.
