Okay, so I don't like to climb trees anymore and spend the season sitting in a comfortable chair, an old office chair, warming by a heater. Hunting in comfort is just as good as getting cold and wet....especially if you're sitting in the middle of a major travel route.

Some of the sights I saw. From deer so close I could have opened the windows and spit on them, to a Mennonite neighbors horses that got out, to a senile old neighbor that thinks he can come walking on my farm whenever he wants.

I know a rich a guy that has a big ole boxstand on a powerline, has power, watches tv, has a big rear view mirror so he can check behind him without turning around. Kills some big deer.

It was a pretty good season. Granddaughter got her buck on opening morning, hunting with me, and that was the best part of all. I shot a couple of does for culling purposes. I passed up a couple of bucks better than the one I shot on the last weekend of the season. I regretted shooting this deer, as I didn't give him a good enough look over.

I need something like that

I would sleep in it the night before to eliminate the noise and intrusion of arrival to the scene.

Mine is a 6X6. Big enough for a couple of people to hunt in. I'd build a bigger one if I wanted to sleep in it. Mine was built using some leftover materials, so the cost was not too bad.

We close today on the sale of a few acres that this blind is sitting on.
It doesn't have the creature comforts of many but does keep one dry and somewhat out of the wind.
I did reserve exclusive hunting for the remainder of this years season which runs through the first week of Jan.
Then I'll load it on my truck and move it a couple hundred yards.

That looks pretty dandy.
If you could dedicate the wagon you could build a tiny cabin/blind on that thing with all the comforts of home!

Unreal.
Now that I'm old if I could kill deer sitting on my ass and warm I'd do it.
My deer hunting looks nothing at all like that.

Salmonella, in the years before the Mennonite Invasion here, where they bought up anything and everything they could, I could hunt several thousand acres of farms around me. I'd go wherever the deer were, which meant moving around a lot. Now days, my hunting is restricted to my farms, and that means getting in one place and staying put. I'm fortunate that I'm still able to kill deer here, because the farming practices and the pressure of hunting has really altered the deer hunting in my area. Believe me, I'd love to be able to get out and hunt like you're able to, but it's just not possible here, so I make myself as comfortable as I can these days.

My hunting partner in north MO just built a blind on a home manufactured steel frame with a 3 point hitch that he can pick up with his tractor to move wherever he likes.

His original idea was to build one on a trailer, but what he ended up designing is a pretty slick idea.

I have a similar stand. Mine is 4'x8' 10' off the ground. I spend a lot of time in it all year long. Fun in the off season to read a book and look out the window once in a while. Life is good.

The important thing is being out there.
