Savage 24s don't have any provision for regulating the barrels, so accuracy can be a crap shoot.

I have a couple of 24Vs in 222/20 that I'd sell for $550 plus the actual shipping and insurance.

I was thinking this was a 20 cal on a necked down 222....

that interested me more than a 22 over a 20 gauge.
I have a 22LR over a 410 in Savage 24, that I inherited from my grandfather who passed in 1968...

It was his favorite fire arm...he loved to eat squirrel and rabbit...his favorite...

The 22LR was so shot out, it had no rifling down the first 6 to 8 inches of the barrel.

I loved the single shot 410 out of it tho... best squirrel rig I've ever seen... with number 8 or 7 1/2 shot...

its old enough, it has no serial number on it. one of the first models I gather.

That sounds interesting

I prefer classic.

Serial numbers weren't mandatory until 1968.

What he said! I have relined a few 22's and they shoot like a new rifle.
You could go with a .17 as well.

I'm down to two, a DL 22/20 and a V, 222/20. Always on the lookout for a 22WMR/20. I had a pair of Stevens 22/410s that I gave to my two boys and a Campers Companion I sold.
First gun I bought out of College was a 22/20. Killed everything from rabbits to deer with that thing. Learned not to hunt flying game while it wore a 22 7/8" dia scope with 0 eye relief.
Recently missed a 357/20.
Lots of cool combos but disappearing fast.

i took a 222/20 gauge and had the top barrel 222 rechambered to a 556 /223 so cheaper ammo was easy to find , the rifle shoots just fine .
