First off, i am soon to be 82 years old. I'm in fairly good shape. I'm down to only a few guns, one of which in a Benjamin Discovery. I use it for pest control. Very accurate out to 50 of my paces. I have always been interested in the Marauder, 10 shots. Better than me trying to load a pellet. I happen to be looking & found Amazon was selling a Benjamin Marauder BP2264S Synthetic Stock PCP-Powered .22-Caliber for $369. Took a while but I decided to order.
My question is can I shoot it at 2000 PSI out of the box. I'm lazy & don't want to pump it up to around 3000 PSI. 2000 PSI works fine for me in the Discovery.
Dave

I may have my Benjamin Discovery.22-Caliber.for sale. Just the rifle & whatever parts I have. I rebuilt it last year. All new o rings & some new parts. I put a silencer on it.

They typically arrive fully charged, at least my .22 Marauder from Pyramid Air did. You sure don't want to attempt to hand pump one from zero.

I've got a SCUBA tank adapter, but I generally hand pump 15 to 20 pumps after a little shooting to keep it topped off. Easy Peasy.

I would grab a batch of JSB Match Exact Jumbo Heavy pellets (18.13 gr) they are very accurate in my PCP and hit like a hammer. Find a good quality scope and your kill range easily extends to 75 yards.

I keep mine at around 2500 to 2700 psi. I'll shoot about 10 rounds and pump it back up, it's a lot less work than letting it go down lower than that.

The Marauder can be filled with CO2. Velocity suffers because CO2 pressure is below 1000 psi but it eliminates the need for a pump and is easy to refill. I’ve never tried it in mine but there are videos on youtube about it.

Great price!

I’d like to try the P-Rod. Not as powerful. But easier to carry around.

Although I had kinda dreamed of getting the Field Target model in .177, with the regulator. Just for target shooting.

I’m not sure you even need a good quality scope! I had the cheapest crappiest scope there is on mine and it’s very accurate with it! Found out i suffer most with it shooting indoors at 8 yards because the parallax doesn’t adjust quite that close. :-)

I'm not sure what that rifle is regulated at, but as long as it's tank pressure is higher than the regulator pressure you should be able to shoot it with no ill effects on accuracy or power.

I don't believe the Marauder is regulated.

That's correct. The base Marauder models are unregulated however, they do have a regulated Marauder model if you are so inclined.

From my experience with the Marauder, accuracy is not effected from 3,000 down to 2,000 psi, but I haven't shot it below 2,000 psi. After I shot in two scopes, I don't let the pressure drop more than 500 psi as I don't want to drag out the SCUBA tank to refill it. I generally shoot it 20 shots and then use a hand pump to air it back up to 3,000 psi.

Not sure how more frugal the regulated model is, but I don't see the standard models as inferior in any way and I don't see how accuracy could get any better.

I don't think the Marauder is inferior in any way. The valve-balancing they do is excellent.

I don't really understand the mechanics of how the valve works, but it does, and velocity is consistent and accurate for a good shot string.

When shooting the Mrod you will find it has a sweet spot in relation to the tank pressure, this can also be determined over the chronograph. When you find that accuracy window stay within that pressure. It will not take more pumping to maintain it than it would to shoot it around 2000 PSI you mentioned .

I shoot mine down to 1500 and then top back to 3000 with a tank…super quiet for backyard vermin

I have the marauder in .25. It is accurate.
I usually shoot two magazines and pump it back up - while cursing myself for being a cheap ass and not getting a compressor.
It feels like a 2x4 in your hands - maybe they have changed in the last half dozen years but a lot of pcp guns out there in the same price range outshine the marauder in both function and ergonomics. Electric pumps are coming down in price rapidly with a bunch of companies making them.
The pcp gun world is evolving fast with new innovations coming out all the time - hard to decide which one to get.
Good luck in your search
