My neighbor's dog, Chewie (maybe the nicest and politest dog I've ever met), one day when I was butchering caribou in the garage, and my dogs had gone to town. HughW, every dog I have had LOVES venison and don't move from the butchering table until I am finished.
My better half has a Shih Tzu, last year I kept on feeding him until he looked like a Furry beach ball, could hardly move when I finished lol

I have that done with our dogs and just a stick laying down sets the line -- command out and they go behind the line. Also a place command to get them in the one spot I want them to stay. Both good tools for as you say polite dogs.
