A buddy of mine just gave me 400 Nosler Solid Base bullets that are 162-grainers. No load data for this bullet that I see currently, can someone point me in the direction of a load manual that does list this bullet? I’m sure I’ll have to look for old manuals because this bullet hasn’t been made for years, but I’d like to try them.


I’ve also read that they were the predecessor of the current Ballistic Tip, but some people said that they are harder than BT’s? If anyone has any experience with them, I’d love to hear, I would be using them for deer and possibly bear hunting.

Use Nosler 160 grain data or even Hornadys 162 data. You’ll be good. It’s a plain old cup and core. Shouldn’t be any surprises.

They are a good bullet.

I have some in 30,277 and 22 caliber and use them when i really want to plant a critter.

Like was said use 160 data and see if your rifle likes them.

Thanks, guys- this will give me something to play with for the winter now! I also got some 175-grain Speer Grand Slams, might have to see how they shoot, as well.

Hornady also produces 162gr bullets in 7mm with cup and core construction and they list data in their manuals. I see no reason why you couldn't follow the advice to use 160gr data and compare with the Hornady 162gr data

This ^^^^^^ I had a 7MM mag that loved them. Half inch shooter and would not shoot anything else.....
