What is the deal with the current crop of celery in the stores? Was there some weather event that affected the entire crop? For the last couple of weeks we've seen nothing but overly green, spindly, dirty, bitter stuff.

Have you noticed the quality of produce overall lately?
30 years ago we used to get scrap produce from a grocery for the hogs. Often there would be whole cases. Being Hillbillies who grew our own food we are used to less than perfect vegetables. We frequently ate some of the decent hog food. I see stuff sold now, that isn't as good as what was discarded then.

I like weighty, meaty, ribs, with heavy, meaty whites. The spindly ones are only good for making broths.

Paid $2.50 for a bunch of celery yesterday, quality was good, but it was kind of small.

My mom used it a lot. I like it best in chili. She would put it in all her soups, roast and cornbread dressing.
Been a struggle getting the wife to use it but now she’s on board. We haven’t bought it in the last two months because she bought 2 bunches before Thanksgiving and diced it then froze it.

Had some tonight with ranch dressing dip coupled with a cold martini as a pre-dinner snack as I was grilling outside. Seemed okay to me!

Greener it is, the more bitterer it is. Hint Right, and that's the only kind currently available.

I like it green, never noticed it being too bitter.
The strings are annoying though.
About the only way I’ll eat pimento cheese.
