I know a guy who married one. He had 2 adult kids from a previous marriage. Several years later he was dying of cancer. His 2nd wife didn't like the terms of his will and along with some other Filipino's kidnapped the guy and held him for ransom. She wanted his kids to give up more of their share.
Cops got on it pretty quick, recovered the guy and arrested his wife and her accomplices. The guy died a week or so later.

I've seen that scam up close: internet bride fakes a domestic assault and gets whisked out of the sucker's house and gets a free ride to her other family scammers somewhere else in America who are here on dubious grounds themselves.

A friend of my brother met one online maybe 20 years ago. He went over there an married her. Then he spend about $25k getting her a visa. He got that done and she came to the states. She got off the plane with the visa in one hand and divorce papers in the other. It cost him another $25k to get rid of her. Bride prices have increased since then.
