I use a 20 gauge Benelli Montefeltro. I carry it with five shots available. Often there are late risers mearns and those extra rounds make a difference.
Use 1 oz of #8s with a cylinder choke for mearns. All it takes is a single pellet and they drop. They might move some but the dogs get them.
1 oz of 7 1/2s improved choke for gambels or scaled quail. The larger sized pellet makes a difference as these two birds are tougher than the mearns.
