Looking for something that works well and can take abuse.

Googled a lot, learned little.

What say you who have used them say, pig hunting?

Brand, model, magnification?

Maybe this?

PVS-14 (F6015) Gen3 Thin-Filmed White Phosphor 2300+ Min FOM

How about Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XQ50 Pro Laser Thermal Riflescope 3-12x50mm PL76555

If you had to have either night vision or thermal, which and why?

I’ve had a Bering Super Hogster and now have a Pulsar Thermion XG50.
My suggestion would be to get into a 640x480/512, 12 micron unit with base mag 2.5/3x if you have $4k+
The XG50 now discontinued is on sale at Eurooptic at the moment under $4k.
I’m relatively new to working with thermal but I’ve seen cheap stuff and cheap stuff gets expensive because you will want to upgrade.

I bought one of the Pulsar Thermion XG50’s from Eurooptic a few months back. I love it! I don’t have much experience with thermals, but this one works great, love the magnification. Most folks recommend the XP50 which has a bit less native magnification, but this one seems pretty optimal for my use (I personally wouldn’t want less).

I have a PVS 14 night vision monocular that use with an ir laser, bump helmet, and ir light. I also have a Bering super hogster.

For hunting, there is absolutely no compassion. Thermal is amazing. I love my super Hogster but if you can afford it, BERING is having a super yoter with a built in laser rangefinder releasing this summer. It is 640 and the way I would go.

I have used both hunting around home for coyotes and I have used both in Texas hog Hunts. Again, thermal absolutely is better.

This is through my night vision out of my bedroom window. You could see how easily a coyote or a pig would blend in with the shadows.

Here are some different deer with the thermal switch to Black Hot

Here are some deer at 780 yards with my thermal Even with the 3X magnifier screwed on the front of night vision I would never be able to see them. With the thermal, no problem

Since you asked about the hog hunting, these pigs were with thermal. The guy on the right is my brother. He has the Burris BTS 50. I prefer my thermal since it has on board video. This picture is from a hunt last February in Florida.

Have you looked at Varmint masters forum, or any one of probably 20 hog forums? Those guys would be the best test..

The right combination of specs, along with VOx from Bering, IRay, AGM, and others will get you where you’d need to be. My preference is to only buy pulsar if it’s half price, and my expectations are tempered. That’s me.
